A picture of the water valve and cable routing would also be very helpful as I suspect mine is not original

Im wanting a bumper jack for a 1962 Tbird hardtop.
I have the Base, Bumper bracket, and long serrated tube but the bit that walks up the tube is broken

Check the flexible lead inside the distributor it might be broken and touching together most of the time and breaking apart occasionally

Hi I had a similar problem with my 62 My problem was with the 2 square head bolts not sitting correctly place tge nuts on the bolts. When you place the chro e ri g on you have to squeeze the nufs inwards. This moves the square head outwards and it clips in .tighten the nuts to lock it in hope this h...

Try assembling it without the square head bolts and see if it fits
