Re: 1956 'Bird Batteries
The battery brand is Super Start 29NF. I have had it,for about 6 months. Works great. I do keep a battery tender,or it,when it is setting.

Unless you want to pay $300, or more. O'Reilly auto parts, has a battery, that is listed for a truck. It is the same size as a OEM, battery, for less than $100.

What I would do,is to look in the intranet for auto paint shops,in your area. See if there is reviews on there work. That might help,in your decesion. I would think there would be some good shops,in the Miami area.

Sound like the gas cap is leaking. If you can find some Teflon sheet material. Make you another gasket for the cap.

Re: Gas cap leak
You need to ask somebody, that knows, more about, than me. If the cap is vented,I don't understand how the gas could be puking out,if it is vented. Is there pressure on the tank, when you open the gas cap. Are you sure, you aren't over filling the tank.

Not much to it. I was able to reach the back side of the assemble, and pull the bulb, and assemble. Replace the bulb, and reinstalled. Not much to it.

The spacer on top of the spring stays. The spacer in the coils, doesn't belong there.

Re: Front Spring - spacer?? on my 56
I believe there was a spacer on the drivers side, from the factory. I have heard, it was there to offset the road not being completely flat. I think is on the top side of the spring. Check to see if it is there, on the drivers side only.
