That's me Blacktie, 57 T Bird, 312.

Re: 1957 Thunderbird 312 V8 for sale

Hi Gene: I may be interested, from your text I take it that you are in California and I am in Kentucky so that part would be fairly hard. Please email pictures preferably but a PM would work also. My email is: hank.spaulding@haspaldingengineers.com (the spellings in the last names above is correct) ...

Maybe 4 or 5 years ago; have they changed now? Would make it look more original if they have!

Re: 1956 Hood Hot

Interestingly, all replacement 55/56 temperature gauges/sending units that I have used will read cold to start and then move towards "H" as it warms up.

Re: PS Control Valve Ball Stud Stuck on Pitman Arm

Jeff: I have been unable to find a "ball stud remover" that is strong enough to do the job and fit between the pitman arm and control valve body. If you find one please let me know and I will buy one. The below procedure works. Use some large-ish rubber bands to hold the jack stands togeth...

Sealers & Seam Sealers

Does anyone have a listing that would show the currently available equivalent of the various seam sealers & sealers noted in the Trim & Sealer Manuals?

I have searched the internet and have not found any references to the Ford "M-XXXX" numbers.

Re: 55 painting frame/ heat barrier

Max: MarkR did a good job describing the POR, frame off vs not and shields, I will touch on the undercoating. If you don't have a lift (at least) or the body off (best), getting to all the undercoating w/ the suspension (and I assume the air ducts) in the way is going to be very hard. The only way I...

Re: Heater Vacuum Valve Operation

Should have added "more vacuum equals wider control valve opening equals more hot water flow into the heater core".

Re: Heater Vacuum Valve Operation

Rusty:

You answered your own question. Vacuum from the "spider" valve opens the vacuum operated control valve on the manifold which lets hot water into the heater core.

Re: 55 Front suspension refresh

Oiseau: The parts I purchased did not come from one of the typical T-Bird vendors (wish they had) and I would suspect that your parts coming from CASCO means they should be fine. I tried to save a few bucks and ordered from an unfamiliar source. The parts I received I would expect any reasonable mec...

Re: 55 Front suspension refresh

Ditto for what Paul & Blacktie said. There is a way to remove the front springs reasonably safely but there is a lot of force and you need to be careful if the car is unloaded (engine/trans out, frame-off resto for example). You probably will need some type of spring compressor to get the spring...
