Re: Help! Speedo and rev counter not working
All of the suggestions above sound good to me; related to this question, anybody have suggestions for tach bounce only at idle. Readout is smooth everywhere but from about 450 to 750 rpm. Between this range it bounces badly while engine is smooth.

Re: Finally got my battery!!
You missed it on mine tnswt12 (see first picture posted) but I reeeeeealy agree w/ you that quick disconnect is essential; saved my bacon when I rewired horns and had one going straight to ground. I Never leave car w/o unhooking. Having to reset clock is a minor inconvenience (solved by Joe) but wor...

Re: 55 TBird Steering Column Removal
Leave a pull rope or wire in the steering box for the horn wire. Also, if you are going to remove the horn wire from the steering column use one there also; will save a lot of aggravation.

Re: Finally got my battery!!
Looks to be correct for my car; original Invoice shows a whopping $5.25 for the larger battery and it was equipped w/ the longer and three post battery retainer setup (which I think is original to the car).

Re: Finally got my battery!!
I finally got mine in also; had even canceled the order because it had taken so long but got it anyway, and have accepted it. I am told that Antique Battery has gone out of business, but a person that worked there has taken over. The new company is Jim's Battery. Did you have a business card in your...

Re: 56 Vacuum Advance
Voltron:
Will check that also. That kinda makes sense as, although at idle vacuum advance is zero as it should be, as soon as I come off idle (lower port/s uncovered) advance goes way up.

Re: Rear diff oil leaks?
The rear diff is a really convenient place to get both tires off the ground w/ a floor jack! You do need to be careful to make sure that your jack is lifting/hitting on the diff case and not the cover as its easy to bugger the cover at this point. Once buggered, it is hard to get the cover leak proo...

Re: 56 Vacuum Advance
Voltron: Got the retainer out of the bottom of the carb with easy outs and it did have a small 1/8" steel ball check in it. Reinstalled new retainer w/o check ball and also installed the NOS B5AZ 9B572-A spark valve; still same issue. Too much advance too soon. I have a red plastic check ball l...

Re: Rear Leaf Springs
Got it Out!! Had to completely drill thru about 3-1/4" of 7/16" solid bolt with a 3/8" drill before it would finally drive out. Have never seen anything like the way it was hung up, and hope to never have to do it again! It is a really bad spot to get to w/ x-frame on the inside and s...

Googled it, don't know if they used a "rose bud" end or not but did try acetylene torch. Got everything hot enough that old collection of grit, etc. inside frame caught fire, went out, whew!
Yep, it has really been a cluster!

I will google it, but is a "rose bud" something that will heat the sleeve w/o heating the bolt as much?

Re: Rear Leaf Springs
Paul: One of my friends has a hydraulic press which was required to get to get the bushings out of the spring eye on both sides. On the side I am having issue with, this was after I cut the bolt to let the spring drop out. This cut didn't really leave any bad edges as I recall, but if I had been thi...
