I still would like to see a couple of good close up pictures of this particular part - especially of the worn area that is causing all the problems.

Could you post a picture of the part and the worn area? It may be possible to weld and restore the original parts far easier than changing several other parts. Just a thought.

That is correct and entirely functional. That said, IF you have concerns about authenticity, compare those slotted head screws to original specs.
