Re: 1955 Thunderbird Front Signal Light Problem
Pull the bulb in the suspect socket and make sure the 2 contacts inside the socket aren’t touching. I’ve had this exact issue before and found that when the bulb was pushed in and turned the two contacts touched. To remedy this, I removed the bulb then slightly pulled the wires from the back and rei...

Re: Staples coming out of soft top
The only thing I’ve had to do was straighten the cloth bead that covers the staples a couple times.RegM 56 T-Bird wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 5:25 pm That is too simple!! Great idea. Have you had to replace staples in yours?

Re: Staples coming out of soft top
That’s pretty common. What I’ve done is keep a 3” wide plastic putty knife in the glovebox and when I put the top down I insert the putty knife between the canvas and the side of the car to allow the top to slide in easily. Doing it 1side at a time and working slowly has worked well.

Re: Reverse tail lights
The only thing that could cause that would be the black wire with the red stripe getting power from somewhere. It should come from the reverse lights and go to the neutral switch at the gearshift then to the headlight switch. It gets power when the headlights or park lights are on and the car is pla...

Re: Adjustable column?
Originally they were all adjustable in 55,56, and 57. Does the collar loosen or is it froze? You may need to put plastic and rags on the floor then spray everything with PB blaster, wd-40 or a 50-50 mix of acetone and automatic transmission fluid and let it soak then give it a few good pulls and pus...

Re: ‘57 tire valve extenders? (Problems adding air)
There are a couple different kinds of extenders, plastic and metal. The plastic ones generally not threaded on both ends so you cannot put a valve cap on them and don’t perform as well. The metal ones will allow you to use a standard valve cap and you can check and add air as needed without removing...

Here’s my dash after installing LED’s. And what it looked like with the regular incandescent bulbs. The only drawback to LED’s is they are not dimmable but that doesn’t matter to me.
