Axle Shaft Compatibility
Does anyone know if 1965 rear axle shafts are compatible with the 1964 car? Thanks.

Re: Removing Convertible Top Package Tray
Hi Jim - it sounds like you're going through many of the same issues that I went through last year. I removed my package tray for painting and folded the top into the trunk space for over a month with no problems. I removed the window section completely and stored it separately. Although I didn't do...

Re: Front Upper Impact Bar (Bumper)
When I took my fenders off last year for painting my '64, I only removed the upper impact bar (bumper) because I thought it would be easier than removing the whole bumper and grill assembly. It wasn't exactly a piece of cake, but not terrible either. I know that I took the outer arms off too, but I ...

Re: How to remove front turn signal indicator bulb
I had a relatively easy time removing and reinstalling the bezel ring using a golf shoe spike tool (I didn't need it anymore since I was spending all my time fixing the T'Bird instead of golfing!). You'll need to bend the 2 tabs a little bit to fit the bezel ring, but you can apply quite a bit of pr...

Re: "Lower Finish Panel" fasteners.
This video by Sean (Auto Anatomy) might be useful. At 16:20 he reinstalls the lower finish panel. Hope this helps.

Re: Convertible flip lid fitment
I also had quite a bit of play in my gear drive. I found this information on a repair service website. I was able to reduce the play by tightening one of the small set screws in the gear drive housing. "Proper function of the upper back panel limit switch is predicated upon proper condition and...

Re: Convertible flip lid fitment
My car is a 64 which doesn't have the threaded stops and there doesn't seem to be any mention of them in the 64 Shop Manual. Sorry if this has caused any confusion. The retaining bolts I'm referring to are the two bolts to the left of your photo connecting the hinge arms to the flip panel. If your &...

Re: Convertible flip lid fitment
I'll defer to jtschug about adjusting the limit switch for adjustments. I run my top control system without one (long story) but the experience I have had with the limit switch would make me try something else first, especially if there is some adjustment left using the retaining bolts . From what I...

Re: Convertible flip lid fitment
I recently reinstalled my flip panel after taking everything apart for painting. At first it fit like yours (although admittedly without quite as large a gap!). I agree with jtschug - if you can adjust the flip panel (a little bit at a time) so that it leans forward when the deck lid is vertical, it...

Re: Tire PSI
I have the exact same tires. When I had them installed they were inflated to 34 psi and I also felt that the ride was too hard compared to the previous tires. After trying different pressures I found that 32 psi gave what I thought was the best ride and road feel.

Re: 1966 Console AshTray Lid Question.
You can get a reproduction ashtray cover from Bird Nest (and quite possibly from other T'Bird parts suppliers). It's a bit pricey though. Here's a link to their page. https://www.parts123.com/parts123/dyndetail.pta?catalog=0000030b&uKeY=AACGF Another option might be vinyl wrap - the 3M BR120 wra...

Re: Power Brake issue
Have you seen the excellent thread posted by Treozen documenting a front disc conversion with the same kit? He did the conversion on a bullet bird but it has the same spindles as a '64. I recall that he had issues with the universal booster. There may be different issues with your conversion because...

Re: Recliner seat pivot post
I disassembled my recliner seat last year without any problems. Maybe I'm missing something - have you been able to remove the grooved shaft shown in your picture from the inner solid shaft which is part of the seat? It should be held on with a spring pin in a hole through both shafts. Then hopefull...

Re: 65 brake hose torque limit
Hi Paul - the route you're going with the '66 setup for the conversion is probably the best choice but for a few reasons I went with the ACC rotors, calipers, mounting brackets and spindle adapters and also installed a Raybestos MC32651 (1969 Mustang) disc/drum dual master cylinder and a Wilwood mod...

Re: 65 brake hose torque limit
Hi - I just finished a front disc conversion on my '64 and used the excellent guide created by two members (Treozen and bigbrownpilot), who address the issue of torque required for the caliper banjo bolts. They say to use 35 ft-lbs and let the bolts sit for 15-30 minutes so the copper "sets&quo...
