Keep in mind that the cowl brace bolts are NOT painted, but are a dull S2 finish. Thanks for the tip. I did paint those also, as they appeared to be black when I pulled them. But I can easily dip them in stripper to get the black off. I originally did blast them nice and clean. They have N/L logo o...

Vacuum line question

Ah! So your the guy with the survivor car. Could you answer a vacuum line question for me? On your brake booster there is a Y. One I presume comes from the manifold vacuum. Where does the other hose go? Down to the transmission? I have the electrical assembly manual and this has perplexed me as it j...

Which Black is Correct?

It was a beautiful day here today so I got out and started blasting small engine compartment parts. The engine compartment walls look like crap but I'll have shiny new pieces to put into it. I guess I'm putting the cart before the horse. I decide to experiment with black paints. The original color o...

Valve cover bolts

I'm looking for the standard 5/8"-18 x 3/4" ford valve cover bolts. These must have been used on many millions of engines over the years. I found a set of 10 for $9.95 + $5.50 shipping on Ebay. They can't be that rare! If you can do better than that I'd appreciate it. I only need 5 and the...

It must be in pretty bad shape if it has corrosion. Aluminum doesn't corrode easily. It would be a hit in the pocketbook to trash it. If you really think you need to trash it then you can get the reman 1406 as the 9906 for $240. I went reman with my Ford 460 motorhome with the rebuilt 1411 750cfm. T...

Which Edlebrock do you have? The 1406? It sounds like you have a mid-range tuning problem and are probably too lean. You might want to go one step richer with the rods and jets and possibly increase the step-up springs from the default 4" to 5" or 6" Hg. This of course depends on your...

A spreadsheet. A brilliant idea! I peruse the catalogs and see a part I want at the right price. Then I forget what catalog I found it in. Then I go on a mad hunt again to find it. I will do this spreadsheet idea.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I will go with 1 3/4". It does seem peculiar to have a 1 3/4" manifold opening to go into 2". That's like running a 1/2" water line into a 3/4". The most restrictive passage determines the pressure. Although in the case of expanding gases, maybe Ford kno...

Introduction and Exhaust Question

Hello, I am new to this forum but not new to Thunderbirds. My first car was a 1960 convertible that I bought for $200 in 1974. It was a Northeastern Ohio rust bucket, but with plenty of fiberglass and Bondo I had it fixed up in just over a year to drive it for my 16th birthday. The Bondo of course d...
