my apologies mine is a 66 390 with a green dot transmission. stupidest thing ive ever seen putting drive between L and S

kick down not working

yes I had my car out driving and I punched it but the transmission didn't kick into passing gear kick down is hooked up on the trans but not sure if its correct at throttle linkage any suggestions or a pic or vid of the operation or correct hook up for it

I don't have fender skirts so that's not an issue for me, front has plenty of room except the passenger front tire because of the suspension roll forward. so when I get it back from the garage I will check for any rubbing

went and had the 225/75r15's put on the car and they fit with no problems except for some reason the suspension on the passenger side front had rolled forward and the front passenger front tire rubs the front of the fender. going to garage tomorrow for work will get to the bottom of it

front suspension rolled forward

ok I went to the tire shop to get the correct size tires put on my 66 bird, put the new 225/75r15's on it went to back out and the passenger front tire was rubbing the front of the wheel opening, tire guy said he believes the suspension rolled forward. has anyone else experienced this

I bought a pair of extra heavy duty shocks for the rear, they get put on this week. im thinking about putting the same on the front and maybe trying helper springs till I can get new leaf springs

well when I got mine it had 205/70r15 and they make the car sit too low, so I posted this thread. I called my local tire shop and he said it referenced over to a 225/75r15, so that's what ill go with. im replacing both front and rear shock with the extra heavy duty. going to maybe try helper spring ...

ok since nobody has a clue I called my local tire shop the correct size converts over to a 225/75r15.

I would like to know what the stock tire size is for my 66 thunderbird and what is the biggest tire I can put on it without rubbing and sort

I'm not sure about the helper shocks... but have you had a look at your bushings? They are cheap to replace and more than likely the cause of your rear end being too low. I would start with some standard shocks and new bushings, and see how things look from there. It also give you a chance to do a ...

yes im trying to find a pair of rear shocks that would bring the rear up a little, cant afford new springs right now and air shocks are too rough riding. is there anything out there
