Re: Speedometer light

Here’s my dash after installing LED’s. And what it looked like with the regular incandescent bulbs. The only drawback to LED’s is they are not dimmable but that doesn’t matter to me.

Re: Choke Heat Riser

All of the choke tube parts (tube, elbow, insulator) are readily available at most T-Bird suppliers.

Re: 1956 Oil filter canister leaks

This is the only place I’ve seen them. I got mine over 5 years ago and then they weren’t available anymore until just recently. I wouldn’t hesitate to jump on this item as it may be a while before anymore are made once this lot sells out.

Re: 1956 Oil filter canister leaks

I use a few dabs of grease to hold the gasket to the block and coat both sides of the gasket with oil.

Re: 1956 Oil filter canister leaks

I always do everything as you have done but after tightening I loosen the bolt just enough to allow me to slowly spin the canister back and forth as I tighten the bolt again. I’ve had mine leak like you’re experiencing and this was the only way I could get it to quit. I recently switched to a dpin o...

Re: softtop seals leaking

I think they were originally designed to leak, at least mine does. Even with new seals it still drips in. Kinda like putting a screen door on a submarine. FORD= Floods On Rainy Days.

Re: 1955 Thunderbird after market Sunpro Ammeter wiring lessons learned

If you want an amp meter, I would suggest one of these. I put one on my Ford tractor, 6V positive ground. It simply stays on zero until the battery shows a discharge or charging state. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amp-Meter-Fits-Ford-Tractor-2N-8N-9N-600-700-800-900-Jubilee-NAA-A0NN10670A-/323763688084?...

Re: Power window too fast

Is there a coiled spring in the regulator assembly? The spring is there to assist the window being raised. If it’s in backwards it could allow the window to go down too fast and makes the motor work harder to raise the glass.

Re: Speedometer light

I don’t think there is a light in the speedometer. The only bulbs I remember are the high beam indicator (red light), and the odometer numbers. The gauge cluster is called an astra-dial and the speedometer numbers are iridescent which sort of glow when the outside ambient light shines through.

Probably an old school theft deterrent kill switch. Push the switch to allow the car to start and run, push again to disable ignition.

Re: tonneau cover 1964 tbird

Short answer is no. 61,62,63 body styles were same and should be the same tonneau and 64,65,66 were the same body style but different from the 61-63 and would use a tonneau cover for that era.

Re: Front hub caps spinning in wheels

Install metal valve stems or grab a welder and weld about 3 or 4 boogers around the rim right next to where the tabs for the wheel covers grip. Make sure to get at least 1 to keep it from going both clockwise and counterclockwise.
