Hi Mike
There is a very good book that the VTCI has put together that is called Original Factory Specifications. You can purchase it from the VTCI country store. Each generation of birds has a different volume. 1955-1957 is in volume 2.

Were all the parts of the rotating assembly balanced (rods, pistons, crank) also i remember that is a difference in flywheels on a 390 and a 428. I hope for your sake that all this checks out ok because these...

Has anyone out there researched the owner history of their cars and found any good help in doing this. I have been thinking about doing this for my 66 and all I know so far from the previous owner is that my car never left Arizona until he brought it to Chicago. Someone told me a long time ago that ...

Any other young 'bird owners?

Hey mikeyfrog Yea you can find other young bird owners out there but you will have to keep your eyes open. I am 32 years old, own a 66 Town Hardtop and have been into tbirds since I was 11 years old. I am sure you feel like a rarity but I know of others that were hooked that early. My best advice is...

You will also have to change your spark plugs or else it will "ping" on medium to full throttle. I had this problem with my 66 428 after a complete engine rebuild including hardened seats. I believe I had to put "cooler" plugs in it if I remember right. The original style plugs we...

Every time I think about this car I drool

Randy I'm right there with you on the 59 caddy but I dream of red exterior and white interior. There is something about those wings and bullit tail lites that I love and the fact that I still havent seen a red one in person but I've seen 4 or 5 other colors in person. Maybe some day I will see and o...

dso codes

I have a 66 Town Hardtop with a DSO code of 75. I have read Alan Tast's book Thunderbird 1955-1966 and not found that code in there. The car was originally sold to Read-Mullan Motors in phoenix Arizona. Does anyone know more about this DSO.
