If you do get the conversion accomplished, I would be interested in purchasing your switches.
Thanks,

Re: Strange start
I agree with Alan, sounds like bad gas.
Depending on how much gas is in the tank, try adding Sea-Foam.
I've seen that stuff do wonders.

Re: Brake light switch
Somebody please correct me if this is wrong but I think it's located on the master cylinder on a '66.
Check your manuals.

Oldster,
It's interesting that you have a '65 convertible and '05 Bronze.
I do too. What color is your '65?

Re: My mirror keeps falling off. Ug.
When I had the same issue a number of years ago, I gave up and took the car to a local glass place.
They glued it back, took about 15 minutes to wait, and it hasn't come off since. This is maybe 12 - 15 years ago.

Re: New Owner of a 1966 Thunderbird
Welcome to the Thunderbird world from a former '66 owner and now a '65 in Minnesota.
My experience with only a click when trying to start with the key has been a bad connection with the battery.
Check your cables would be the first place I would go.
Good luck and many happy miles.

Re: 1965 interior color question
I understand where you're coming from. My 65's code is P2 (white seats with light blue trim. Way back when (1991 or 1992), when I was redoing the interior, nobody knew that code...including our resident expert Alan Tast. I should have waited to get that figured out but I went ahead and had it all do...

Re: Winter storage
Besides additives, I disconnect the fuel line and run it until it dies. Of course, I put an extension hose on the gas line and have the car pump it into a gas can. A little primer in the spring and it starts right up.

Re: What did you name your bird?
Ever since our grandson was 3 (he's now 6) the bronze 2005 is now known as "Evan's brown car".
His thinking is, "it's little, I'm little, that car must be mine!"
He tells me I have to ask his permission to drive it.

Re: 1963 engine or block
I probably shouldn't even mention this but my '65 convertible came with a '63 engine when I bought it. I should have recorded the numbers. When rebuild time came, I replaced it with a '65 and gave the '63 to a friend of our son, who rebuilt it and put it in a Mustang. Last I heard it's still going. ...

If you have the old tank, contact Tank Re-Nu.
They take your original tank and recoat it inside and out.
I had one from a 1948 Pontiac that I couldn't find a replacement to them and they did a beautiful job.

Re: What did you name your bird?
Not a Thunderbird, but close... My daughter bought a 1984 Mustang convertible right after she graduated from high school (1992) and drove it all through college. She named it "Mister Lee". The license plate was ### BBT. She thought "Babettes". They had a hit record...the song &qu...
