Re: Brake problem

Sounds like a failed brake booster to me? - if yours is the OEM booster, I would go ahead and get it rebuilt (I did, for my 62).

Re: Temp Gauge Wiring

Guys, to close this out - the connector wire for the temp gauge was not making a good connection at the sensor, so I put a new crimp connector on it and it appears to be working again. For the fuel gauge, I need to go top off the tank, to see if it's corrected, too. Hopefully, the el-cheapo IVR is w...

Re: Carb Upgrade

As an aside, if you have power windows, there's a relay on the firewall that gives you a true 12 v switched signal, but its on either when the ignition is ON or in the ACC position. Only problem with that is your electric choke will open if you're using the ACC to play music, etc. George Understood...

Thank you, I appreciate that. Your car is fantastic looking. How long have you owned it?

Ed
Thanks, Ed - had her 3 years now - if not for the forum guys help, she'd still be sitting instead of driving!

Re: Temp Gauge Wiring

P.S. so are you saying, ALL the dash lights are in serial circuit (like old Christmas tree lights), so If one is bad, NONE will work?

Re: Temp Gauge Wiring

Steve, Regarding the lack of lights on the dash and the Oil Sensor light not working before you start chasing down new sensors or headlight switches check on the wiring and bulbs. Events like these are more likely linked to work being performed in that area vs a random sensor or switch all of a sud...

Welcome Aboard, Missleman!

Yep, you have a real head-turner and squealer there.

I have the hardtop version.

Re: Temp Gauge Wiring

Bird Nest shows both a copy of the original IVR and an electronic version, $25 and $45, respectively. In the description of the original type they describe a procedure to test it. Given the price of the one you purchased from Mac’s and the lack of “electronic” in its description, I think it’s likel...

Re: Temp Gauge Wiring

Cool. I’m glad the IVR worked for you. And yes, our cars are much appreciated at cruise-ins, my favorite kind of show. Regarding the no dash lights. First confirm you rotated the headlight switch. It may have been fully dimmed. There’s a coiled wire that’s part of the headlight switch that controls...

Re: Headers?

I bought the Sanderson 'shorty' headers and had my engine rebuilder install them - sorry, not sure what his process was (and had to take the sheriff with me to get my car, so cannot ask him). But they seem to be working fine?

Yep, Aaron, and I discovered mine by accident (removing the splash shield to get to door hinge bolts) and it was leaking like a sieve.

Re: Temp Gauge Wiring

OK, got the IVR from Mac's and installed it in 10 minutes - temp gauge appears to be working - after a few minutes idling, hit exact midpoint of needle range and stayed there. I do plan to infrared gauge it for an exact measurement (soon as I can get to the tool store in memfis). Now to top of my ga...

Re: Carb Upgrade

OK, on the 600 vs 750 cfm - my bad - I went back and read where you said 600 (the QuickFuel ad I found was a 750). If I get one, I will go with 600. So where did you tie into the ignition wire, at the coil, or somewhere else? (it would be ugly, but why not just come straight off the battery, since i...
