Rick, there should be? (I removed mine from the holder, and it's a basic little bulb, I have seen before)

Re: Odds & Ends

2. The light in the ash tray-- I mentioned a 'small hole' in the front edge of the glove compartment tray; that 'small hole' is actually an elongated slot and the clip on the light will snap into that slot. See photos--- In the first photo, you can see the mounting location of the light (it's in th...

Odds & Ends

I need your help to ID a few minor things on my 62 Photo 1 is a 'mystery' hole just left of the ignition switch - what is it? Photo 2 shows the light under the ashtray - where does it go? (doesn't illuminate anything under there) Photo 3 looks like a ground wire, coming off the window switch relay? ...

Re: Carb Upgrade

You don't want to use the coil supply to power the choke heater. That circuit is working hard enough supplying the current for its intended purpose. Forcing it to power a resistance heater is going to reduce the voltage and current available to the coil and you do not want that. Your also running t...

Re: Brake problem

Cliff, when I got my 62, three years ago, the pedal was rock hard and no braking. So I rebuilt the front brakes and when I got to replacing the M/C, I noticed the booster was sucking air - rubber boot / diaphragms were just rotten. Honestly, I didn't know what a 'booster' was, so as I had more money...

Re: Brake problem

OK, doubleload says it's more difficult to diagnose a bad brake booster, while Cliff says it's pretty easy ( I was totally ignorant about it, which is why I sent mine to Oregon to be rebuilt).

So, what's the easy method to diagnose one?

Re: Carb Upgrade

Yep. That's what I did first. Only thing you have to watch out for is that the power window relay is hot when the ignition switch is either ON or in ACC. So if you're listening to music or fiddling with the windows etc. with the ignition on ACC, your choke will magically open. My Pertronix ignition...

Re: temp and fuel stuck on empty/cold - its not the CVR

Yeah, i did read about your situation. I assumed our situation is not the same as the IVR did not fix mine. My coolant temp sensor is hooked up correctly. Guess my next step is to remove the gauges and check them. OK, so have you not been able to get your gauge to move, at all? I read somewhere to ...

Re: Carb Upgrade

Awesome - thanks again, George! I see that you ran the hot wire from the ignition to your dist block, instead of tapping into the pwr window relay.

So, all I need to do is tap into the hot wire on the pwr window relay, and I'm good to go, right?

Re: temp and fuel stuck on empty/cold - its not the CVR

mbren1979, check out my recent thread on "Temp Gauge Wiring" - I replaced the temp sensor and the IVR on my 62 and it's now working.
