Re: New Radiator

Do you want to keep the car original? There are radiator shops that might fix it. The other option is to find one that has a manufactured replica from one of the Thunderbird suppliers. like Concours Parts : www.concoursparts.com & Casco : www.casco@classictbird.com Thunderbird Headquarters : www.tbi...

Re: Draining 55 Transmission

There is NO transmission drain plug, you would need to undo all of the tranny screws a little at a time tilt one side and let the fluid drain into a deep pan under the tranny. Try to keep the drain pan close to the tranny to catch the fluid.

Re: Amos Minter Thunderbirds

After reading the post from Dynodan '55 I measured the cork now I know why there was no rubbing, The builder Jewels Meets had trimmed the top of the cork just shy not hitting the hood. So that is why there's no mark. That's a smart thing to think of, Nice thought Jewels....... https://i.post...

Re: valley pan installation on a 292

When I changed my Oil pan I used Permatex Ultra Black, and cork gasket, I followed the Shop manual on the torque requirements. I don't have any leaks. Also I changed the tranny filter follow the Shop manual for torque requirements do not over tighten !

Re: Amos Minter Thunderbirds

The last words that you typed "Never paint the cork filter because it would discolor the underside of the hood". Mine has been painted for years and I haven't yet to see any discoloration under my hood. Would you like to emphasize on that.

Re: Hood Hinge is Suspect

DO you have the 1957 Shop Manual? There is a chapter that shows how to align the hood. I have a 56 If you don't I realign my hood a few months ago. What i'm reading in your post it seems someone moved the dowels/springs .I would first mark the base of the hood dowel/springs with masking tape. Then l...
