Hi, I agree with Joe. It's easier to just replace a belt and tighten it. The gen. work fine under normal use. But the belt tension will do it too. Good luck I did try to tighten up the belt,I also replaced with a new one . the Gen had aged through time. But with age I decided to go with the alterna...

Change the generator to the Alternator. I did, this made a big difference on my 56. my GEN light never came on.

I would worry more about the skirts, I had one come off a year ago, I did find a way to zip tie the skirts. I have the same Wire wheels covers. I NEVER had a problem as long as you make sure that they snap in tight. Make sure there's no gap between the rin and the other edge of the wire ring.

Look for the Blue-Yellow stripe to horn button, look for Black-yellow stripe to for horn relay. I asked the same thing, This project was started a few years, He ordered the kit back then. It took awhile for it to arrive. He told me he took out the parts to look for any instructions. then it sat until when it was needed to put on the car. As he can remember there wasn't any instructions..... Fa...

I was told there is a guy in Toronto Canada that fabricated it. The person that bought the kit his name is Cliff from Morris Illinois... Thank You Raven for your interest.

Looking for instructions dealer install on continental kit

I'm helping my neighbor put together his 56, he had to order a continental kit made by someone in Canada, There was no instructions on "how to install" it. I think this was a dealer install. I have looked everywhere to try to find instructions. any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

From your writing , You already answered your question. First you have plenty of time to clean the stainless as best you can. You mentioned to "refresh " the paint. You might ask a professional detailer on how he would tackle it.

I thought the same, How do you shut the door with out a handle?..I usually do is roll down the window, then using my arm p outside the door to close it. I do not use any of the handles inside to pull the door shut....

I use to have a 61 I never seen one in mine, I'm pretty sure it's a add on. here is one example of a "Glass Bowl" the band snaps under the glass bowl. Some have a spring wire that does the same.
I know for a fact that the 55-57 Thunderbirds do have glass bowls, Here's a picture of mine on my 56.

I just wanted to say that removing the round plate in the splash shield would be a chore, I wanted to suggest a easier way to just use a strong 3M adhesive to mount the Grill Plaque. Very simple way , mine have been on for quite some time without any movement.. to remove use acid tone or alcohol to ...
