Re: Radiator Replacement Advice requested

... owner's manual says 10-11° BTDC as the initial timing. My engine runs better and cooler at 17°-19° BTDC. I've arrived here by unhooking the hose from the vacuum advance and putting a gauge in it's place, then loosening the distributor and rotating it a little bit to increase the vacuum reading, while ...

Re: '57 D-Code Carb Question and Possible Fueling Issue

Hello. I do not have any first hand knowledge about carburetors on our cars. Recently I was having some work done on my 57 D-code by a well known ... CFM, which he got from a well-known T-Bird parts supplier. It runs much better. Seems like a new engine. And I don't know why, but it also runs cooler ...

Re: '57 D-Code Carb Question and Possible Fueling Issue

Very good explanation. When it comes to carbs, bigger is not necessarily better or provide more power output. Size DOES matter. Someone on here told me that my aftermarket carb I bought from a Ford dealer is proper sized and seems to work well but still don't understand why I only get 9 mpg on a good ...

Re: '57 D-Code Carb Question and Possible Fueling Issue

Mark R was running a Holley Street Avenger 570 carburetor on his mostly stock 55. Although he had no complaints, he replaced it with a Holley 390 cfm carburetor when its time had come. He is very happy with the smaller carburetor; it's more responsive under normal driving conditions and returns better ...

The one-finger steering was typical for the time.

I have manual steering; it feels much more "connected", but it can be a problem when parallel parking and making u-turns. The turning radius could be better.
