Thant is what I do. Always disconnect the negative (ground) cable.

Right. i’ve had one on and off over the years. Don’t care for the look. 1/2 turn with a wrench it lifts right off with your fingers.

I noticed today the stainless steel fuel line that connects to the carb was 180 when the care stalled out. I think that fuel will boil before 180.
While I'm waiting for the pump I might try wrapping that line.........

I do use the Pennrite steering gear lube (NLGI 00). It definitely took care of the leakage issues in my ‘37 Chevy plus flowed nicely around the gear mesh area.

... Sand with a white hard top. It still looks great and fits great but some of the adhesive is bleeding through on the overlap seams over the doors, but I don't care. It's a functional close to original driver. I guess I could try some vinyl paint to cover but would it look worse than the natural patina?

I definitely prefer the look of a cloth top! On the other hand, they do take a little more attention to cleaning and care.
We had one on our '06 VW New Beetle. It was a dark tan so did not show dirt stains quite as bad a a lighter color.

... only experience with Robbins was that 2011 Mustang replacement and that top was high quality. I just got lucky with it. I never thought about looking at brands since it was an insurance claim. It was installed by an automotive upholstery shop and the paperwork and care instructions were from Robbins.
