Re: '63 M-code coupe factory wheels

Chances are it was originally delivered with steel wheels and either the standard full wheel covers or the optional 'Deluxe' covers with the same spinners used on '63 Sports Roadsters. The Deluxe covers were both a factory and a dealer option, as were the wire wheels. The 14"x5.5" steel r...

Re: '63 M-code coupe factory wheels

M code hadn't a thing to do with wheels. Three choices. Wheel covers. Deluxe wheel covers. Kelsey wires. (Possibly a 4th...maybe a delete was possible....) Buy the gate release and invoice/window sticker. How do you know it's an m code? My car is in the registry and it's not original.... And I have...

'63 M-code coupe factory wheels

Is there anyway of knowing what original wheels, or wheels and hub caps were used on a 1963 M-code coupe? The build date is October 18th, 1962. When I bought the car last year it only had black steel wheels. No hub caps... This car is in the Thunderbird registry, and it looks the same as it did in t...

Cruise-o-matic part number differences

I am wondering what the difference is between cruise-o-matic part numbers are, on the case. I've read an older thread here that listed part numbers for cruise-o-matics in Thunderbirds for the early '60's. So for a '63 for instance is a part number is: C3SP 7000-C. Then I see elsewhere people selling...

Re: 1963 390ci M code engine

Jim, Thank you for sharing the pictures of the carburetor set up and the M Code pdf. That was very helpful. It blows my mind how much they packed on top of the 390 in 1963. I know it's best to restore original parts, but can you recommend any places that sell concours quality reproduction parts? 6V...

Re: 1963 390ci M code engine

Well it's been a couple of weeks, but I finally got pictures of the manifold. It looks to be correct, with the hole for the PCV fitting under the primary carburetor and the mounting holes for the swivel accelerator and the automatic transmission kick-down linkage. I think that's the major difference...

Re: 1963 390ci M code engine

Mr. Tast, Thank you for the knowledge. The only other carb date that I have seen was on ebay, and it was 223. Someone was sell the 3-2V set up with the intake and air cleaner, but the carbs were in way worse shape than what I am starting with. The difficult part for me is that the manifold I have on...

Re: 1963 390ci M code engine

Here's a better picture of the "A" carb. All 3 carbs have the "222" number stamped on the lefthand side in each picture. It's just cut off on some of pictures.

Re: 1963 390ci M code engine

Ducksface That's great advice! I will join vcti and buy the books and manuals. I have been downloading pictures as I seem them and will continue to do so. I like the idea of getting the car running and build the engine over time. I know the restoration will take me years. One good thing is that the ...

1963 390ci M code engine

Hello there, I am new to the club and I recently purchased a 1963 Thunderbird M code Coupe. The vehicle is in the registry, it's mostly together with the main exception is that there is no motor in the car. The car did come with the correct intake manifold, the 3-2V Holley carburetors with the corre...
