new upper radiator hose, ?#
I am installing a exact fit A/C system from Old Air. The new upper hose impinges on the front mounting 'peg' of the Sanden compressor I have thought of cutting the peg off and grinding it smooth (this peg is not used at this time) but it is permanent. What have others done to make this work, Thanks....

Re: 57' Radiator bracket
Solo; I am not sure what you are asking, hasn't stopped me ion the past so I will plow on. If you are asking what the bolt and nut attach to and are for, then the answer is given that it is a mounting bolt for the frame, one of ten or twelve. If you are putting the radiator back in and want to know ...

One wire Alternator
I am currently installing a (exact fit A/C system) from Classic auto air, I purchased this in 10-2022. Not in any big hurry. The directions stated that the system needed to be converted to a one wire system with a alternator from a GM or chevy pickup. I called NAPA and got one and have installed it ...

Re: Battery Availability
Yesterday (friday) I drove to the Interstate battery supply house to get a battery, the one that came with the 1957 Thunderbird 04-2022 when I purchased the car needed to be replaced (on the floor and not used since 11-22). The gentleman I dealt with said the 29 group battery was the only one they h...

Re: Interesting photo
It may have been converted from a Gas engine to a Diesel engine, therefore the modified look. It also can be a factory truck, i.e.not modified. In the early my dad had a truck dealership and sold Federal, White and Autocar trucks. He took Federals to Omaha to have the Gas engine switched to diesel a...

Clutch mechanism 57 with a 312 engine.
I am still here and working on the car about every day, usually two to 4 hours before I play out. anyway, this car was born with a fordomatic trans but the first owner wanted a three speedd with OD. It was put in and driven for years and 79000+ miles. I bought the car from the third owner and am get...

Jim;
You may be correct, as I read through the install directions I do no find the instructions for a new pulley. Time will tell as I start the installation.

Re: Installation of distributor, 57 T Bird with 312 engine
JIM; Good eyes and you pay attention to details. The two pulley is the 'original' set up before the a/c was added, (I think) and the three pulley was added as the a/c added. As I complete this car I will add a new a/c system and plan to show what I can of the process. It will be a few weeks before I...

Re: Installation of distributor, 57 T Bird with 312 engine
OK, I think I have proof, though no one asked for it, I thought it necessary to provide. I and my brother have been fussing with this for some time. I did find the timing marks (A '0' for TDC, and a hash mark (5 of them) to the right of the 0 (as you look at the pulley), for a total of 10 degrees BT...

Then I started installation and soon had to change my mind. The injection molded foamwas thicker in ...

To bring this post to an end, the engine is timed, not started but I am sure when the time comes it will, next the dash need to be installed and the gages hooked up, then windshield and soft top.

Re: Installation of distributor, 57 T Bird with 312 engine
Well People, tomorrow I should have the Hydraulic damper installed. My brother has helped and he will be back Monday. Once the thing was in my hands the timing marks were easy to find, I blasted the pulleys and black paint applied and the timing marks painted white. The shaft that slips over the cra...

Re: Installation of distributor, 57 T Bird with 312 engine
The pulleys are off as is the harmonic balancer and the timing marks have been found. I, apparently, am not smart enough to post a photo even after reading the directions three times, and retyping this three times as I loose it when I try to post the photos. The marks are 0 for TDC and vertical mark...
