'62 will not go into park

My '62 will not go into Park. I can start it in neutral, but gearshift will not go into park. when steering wheel is moved to the right, gear lever goes into park, but no idea if the transmission is in park. it seems like it should be a linkage or cable adjustment, but can't find anything in shop ma...

Re: New Member and '62 Bird owner

I'm glad it arrived ok. The shipping on mine was nerve wracking, Top wise, I'm dreading if/when mine stops working. Any pictures you need, just ask. Shipping on mine was also nerve wracking, but it got here safe and sound. Thanks for the offer of pictures. I will likely start troubleshooting the to...

Re: New Member and '62 Bird owner

So the car arrived last weekend but I have been too busy with work and life to post back or start to work on it. As I expected there are a few things that will require attention, but nothing major: Gas gauge not working Gen light on but gen working okay Will not go into park- only halfway between P ...

The pickup got delayed a few days, but it's on its way. It will likely be here Wednesday or Thursday. I saw your thread on the '63- beautiful car and a great buy!

Re: Self-Tuning Injectors For 1962 390 FE

Nice! I was looking at these as well. Let us know when you get it installed and set up. What are you going to run for a fuel pump? I am probably going with the In-tank kit that goes with the FAST system. External pumps need to be placed lower than the lowest point of the fuel tank and are noisy. Th...

Self-Tuning Injectors For 1962 390 FE

I just ordered this Speedmaster EFI self-tuning system for my '62 convertible. I wanted to go for a somewhat period correct look. The primary motivation was better mileage and reliability rather than a big increase in power. Plus I love the way they look. https://product-arena.s3-accelerate.amazonaw...

Re: New Member and '62 Bird owner

Welcome, that’s a good looking car. I’ll throw my hat in the Ring. First make sure the hydraulics on the brakes and the e brake are tip top. That’s a single system. I would check this first , it’s a safety issue that can bite you. I’m sure you want/need to drive the car and get to know her. Upgrade...

Re: New Member and '62 Bird owner

Post a picture of your door plate. We'll decode for you. Does it have Kelsey wheels? The hotrodding will not prove too fruitful. Tbirds are not quick even at 450hp. It does not have Kelsey wheels- it has cheap looking wire wheels that have to go. I am undecided whether I want to go for the spoked w...

Re: New Member and '62 Bird owner

Welcome aboard! I've had my 62 Convertible for a couple of years now, it is also a wannabe Roadster (with tonneau and badging). Do not be intimidated by the power top. Mine also needed some 'tweaking' when I got it, but if you have any mechanical aptitude whatsoever (and the correct documentation) ...

New Member and '62 Bird owner

I just closed a deal on a '62 convertible today and couldn't be more excited. I have loved classic cars all of my life and at 64 decided I shouldn't wait any longer. I was certain that I was going to get a '57 but when I saw a red '62 convertible I really fell in love. Something about the space age ...
