Re: "Performance" sway bars and shocks
Glad you got them installed on your '55. If they are the ADDCO units, I cannot get them installed on my '57 - different rear axle and resonators, basically interferences with the exhaust pipes in any position I found.

Re: Steering Gear Box Seal
I was just musing out loud how I might do this on mine which is not leaking from the bottom, but only the top gasket and side seal.

Re: Steering Gear Box Seal
Cool, I Googled Pennrite and they have a presence here in CH, can buy direct from them via their website! Looks like they have a lot of good products for classics including motor oils and atf.

Re: Carchaeology II – down the rabbit hole
Rabbit hole or a skydive?? You have done more than I would ever attempt but you sound like an engineer not a hobbyist like me.
Hey Ward,
I'm neither... Most of my professional career was as an industrial design/engineering modelmaker and prototyper. Designing and building stuff as well as ...

Carchaeology II – down the rabbit hole
I’m posting this in the General Discussion section because it doesn’t relate to any specific problem – just my particular car and experience. Storytelling is a way to get this stuff out of your head and move on to other things. Apologize in advance for the long post.

Re: Placing Photos in Messages/Responses
Can I post a video in a message? What file types are accepted?
Well, these days anyone can open a free account on YouTube or some other video streaming service. You can put your videos up there and post a link. Videos take up a fair amount of server space, if this forum's space is limited ...

Re: '57 complete exhaust system setup
When I did my exhaust system I got mine from Prestige Thunderbird. I got the aluminized pipes and mufflers without the resonators. I really can’t see how much difference having the resonators would have made because my car is not loud at all.
One other thing I did was to fit exhaust turndowns on ...

Re: '57 complete exhaust system setup
Mitch, Glad you are done with the install and are happy with your results. I read your account and I say “your” results because you had to redesign and refabricate the right side. Sorry to hear that. Please send your article to Casco and let them know. It’s unacceptable. I know they do not want to ...

Re: '57 complete exhaust system setup
(Wanted to post this last night, but realized I couldn't post a PDF. Also because I was getting a lot of error messages. Hopefully this works)

Re: PDF attachments
Yeah, but hey, PDF’s are EVERYWHERE and used by EVERYONE. They are ubiquitous. Every other forum I participate in allows them. I open dozens of them daily for getting info from clients, suppliers, etc. I send out my invoices in PDF, and create them for instructional materials. Not allowing PDFs is ...

Error messages when posting
I am getting these regularly now -
First:
Insufficient storage.png
Then:
Resource limit.png
Also when trying to add the attachments like above, getting "HTTP error" multiple times.
What's going on? The 914 Forum I also hang out in is getting constant cyberattacks. I hope it's not the case ...

Re: Steering Gear Box Seal
I assumed people like Hill’s used good, reliable rebuilders. Perhaps I was too naive with that assumption.

Re: Steering Gear Box Seal
My rebuilt steering box - which I got from Larry’s or Hill’s, I don’t remember - leaks. Not from the lower seal, but from both the top cover and the side entry for the steering column. Both leaks at the gaskets as far as I can tell. Haven’t these guys ever heard of gasket sealant?
