a probable '66 bargain

Anybody else been watching this on Craigslist? https://cosprings.craigslist.org/ctd/d/colorado-springs-1966-ford-thunderbird/7378532356.html It has issues, but the price has gone down to practically pocket change. Considered as a project car, it costs less and looks better than most every other one ...

Re: Factory Promo Thunderbird Models

Very nice! I love those!

I would have really loved to have had them when I was a kid--I always had a fleet of toy cars around (and underfoot and in the way, to hear my poor parents tell it).

Re: Admin Support Requested

I'm not sure how the admin structure works either--it would be helpful if there were a guide somewhere on the site.

Personally, I would like to be able to get into the members-only forums. I've been a paid-up member for a year and a half and I can't figure out how to do it.

Re: roof rack

Glad you mentioned the red wheels, Scott6T6. I noticed those and thought they were odd. Whoever did it was thorough--the spare is on one too. Almost fooled my eye into thinking it was a dual-stripe white/red tire at first. It does look to be a good example, but I can't really agree about the color. ...

Re: roof rack

Many thanks for all the interesting news and recollections, everybody. Clearly, this subject struck a nerve! I don't think the car in the ad looks very good with its rack on top--would look better on the trunk if you felt you had to have one. I guess I do remember seeing a trunk-mount on a convertib...

roof rack

Anybody seen this one?

https://harrisburg.craigslist.org/ctd/d ... 35774.html

The text seems to indicate that the roof rack is original in some way. I've literally never seen one on any 'Bird.

What does the hive mind here say?

Squarebird in Beverly Hillbillies pilot episode

This has been posted on YouTube. Part of the introduction involves the fancy cars of Beverly Hills and who drives them. The camera shows a Cadillac as the narrator says, "Movie stars," a Rolls Royce with "Royalty in exile," a suicide-door Lincoln for "retired millionaires,&q...

a really small question

My inside rear view mirror won't stay adjusted. It's not just flopping down, as I've seen some do, but just constantly, gradually moving out of alignment.

Is there any possible fix short of replacing the mirror?

Re: Greeting from San Jose, CA

Ah, I didn't put the two together. Very nice car, 1966Convert Ginger--to say the least!

You clearly have infinite patience for all the restoration details. I admire that!

I really can't do it myself, but I do admire it!

Re: White SL

Thanks for posting this document, dmasl_10. I have the one for my car, but I have trouble figuring out the format, and I see yours is just the same. The three columns of figures confuse me. Suggested retail would seem to be pretty self-explanatory and what you would expect to see on the window stick...

full-width lights

I was just idly wondering whether the '66 'Bird was first with full-width lights. Looks like, almost. According to the article below, the '66 Buick Electra appeared with them almost simultaneously. (The '66 Charger came a bit later.) I wasn't able to google up exact introduction dates, but the autho...

Re: Resell value

Congrats! I've had my '66 nearly a year, and though it came to me very good from the second owner, I've still had quite a few issues. I find the key is to just keep telling yourself, "Oh, all this fun is what I bought it for!" As for prices, vince is so right that there's a very bi...
