Re: Flip Lid Alignment

Barry,

I'm impressed with what I see, and I've taken notes...looks like I have some work ahead!

Thanks for sharing your results.

Re: Flip Lid Alignment

Hey Ken, do you have any pictures of your issue? Same as mine? Thanks. I overheated the deck lock motor from too many trial and error attempts while tweaking adjustments. Aggravation !! Here you go...the first three pictures are right after the deck lid is fully closed: Flip panel 1.jpg flip panel ...

Re: Flip Lid Alignment

I have the same problem and it is driving me absolutely bonkers. Deck lid seats down nicely and aligns well with body, but as the deck lid pulls down the last quarter-inch of travel, the front of the flip lid pulls up about a quarter inch. Now, if I walk away for a few minutes, when I return the fro...

Re: Electrical wire.

I would venture a guess that your repair most likely fixed an intermittent problem that you were not aware of. That original wire (especially the one to the coil) may have degraded to the point that only one or two of the strands were still intact. Your repair likely restored full current flow to th...

Well done! Glad to hear that your hard work has paid off. There's nothing like the satisfaction of a problem solved.

Time to celebrate with an adult beverage or three! :drinking:

What's the next challenge?

Re: CONVERTIBLE TOP CYCLE TIME

I can't speak to how long the top would take on a new '62 Bird, but I can say that my '62 convertible top operates extremely well, and it takes just under 60 seconds to fully retract, and the same in the other direction. Every other '61 - '63 Bird convertible that I have seen is either the same or s...

Re: Power stays on circuits with ignition switch off

The beauty is all I have to do is pull the 30 amp fuse to disable the jumper circuit and if the new relay doesn't fix it just put the fuse back to get windows to work! Excellent idea. Sounds like you are on the right track. If you are willing to devote enough time, I'm sure you can eventually figur...

Re: Power stays on circuits with ignition switch off

Congratulations - I think? I've faced this sort of situation many times. The good news is you found what was causing the problem. The bad news is realizing that this may be just the first of several wiring 'improvements' done over the years. Back when these were just old cars, in the 70s and 8...

As the owner of another Roadster tribute, I must say that is very nice! I don't think I've ever seen any convertible in triple black.

Congratulations!

Re: Power stays on circuits with ignition switch off

Just spitballing here, but it sounds as if someone installed a latching relay in the Ignition circuit, although I have no idea why someone would do that. Some LR circuits are designed to shut off a few minutes after power is removed; have you waited a few minutes to see if they go off on their own? ...

Re: Starter zing?

Is it the long weird looking one with the bendix drive sticking out over the end? Weighs a ton and a half, lol? Tbird starter.jpg Or is it a more conventional modern-looking starter? The more modern-looking one (64-up) is NOT a direct replacement and will cause the sort of problems you are describin...
