Thanks Lew and Mark. That is kind of what I thought.
Have a great and safe weekend.

Exhaust Tip Length - 1955
Hey everyone,
I hope all is well. I am wondering how far the exhaust tips are supposed to stick out from the Chrome bracket. Please see the attached photo. Does this look correct? Is there a correct dimension?
Thanks!
Bob

Re: HELP!! Hood release broken
Good evening everyone, Being somewhat new to this car (1955) I thought I should put a safety cable in as suggested. To my surprise, I have a rod hooked around the lever that goes through the firewall with a T handle to open the hood if needed. It is right above the normal latch release but hidden ou...

1955 Rear Bumper Guard Removal?
Good Morning I would like to remove the rear bumper guards because I think I have an exhaust leak on the left tail pipe tube. I took the two bolts out and it seems loose but it also seems to be clamped around the pipe and judging from pictures and catalogs I don't know how to loosen the clamps. Any ...

Re: Oil Bath Questions
I looked closer and found the fill level stamping. It was not where I was expecting it to be and was much easier to see on the outside than on the inside. So I guess the theory is that the oil touches the bottom of the mesh and it kind of wicks into it a little bit and that's what catches the dust? ...

Oil Bath Questions
Hi everyone, A couple of questions: 1. Is the top of the oil bath filter (see photo) supposed to come apart to clean the filter element (looks like fiberglass of some sort). 2. Everyone says to not overfill it with oil but mine does not indicate a fill level and I am having trouble finding more info...

Re: spark plug wires
For what it is worth, I just replaced my 55s spark plug wires and all the grommets that go with it, and it was not a bad job. It is a combination of working from above the engine mostly but a little bit from underneath made it easier. One of the grommet bolts was fairly easy to put in but you can't ...

Re: Fuel Pump Not working
I am just getting ready to start our 55 after rebuilding the engine and found this thread helpful.
Would it help to fill the fuel pump first? I'm thinking of filling it though the rubber inlet hose.
Thanks much!!

Fuel Pump Connections?
Hi everyone I hope all is well with you and your families. Today's question as I get closer to starting up the 55 relates to the 2 tubes on top of the fuel pump. Are these just held in by friction? Seems like something ought to hold them in but there was nothing when I disassembled it. Thanks as alw...

Starter rubber seal?
When I took my engine apart, it did not have a rubber seal between the starter and the bell housing. (See the photo showing the part in question) I thought it is supposed to be there so I bought one, but could not get it to fit correctly. Is it supposed to be there? I did find another post showing h...

Rocker Assembly Torque?
When I looked up the correct torque for the 8 bolts holding the rocker assembly on the head, it said 12 - 18 foot pounds. That does not seem correct to me. Any help?
Thanks!
