Re: scarebird disc brake conversion

I checked the other day and they were still listed. They weren't specific but they had the exact right measurement for the inside hookup to brake pedal unit and the right size hole and fit the existing bracket with several washers. I will see if i can find it. Works great with my new double master a...

Re: Brake Self Adjusters

At least I'm not alone. pulled my rear drums and I found all new parts with warped and over-machined drums 11.09 and no adjusters either!! Who does this stuff? The photo's I see for the 63 will that apply to my 62 as far as parts matching except the cables?? Now to find new drums for a 62 that arent...

Trunk light 62 hardtop

Did the 62 hardtops come with a trunk light? I don't have one, but when I put in the new liner kit for the trunk I found a wire coming out of the harness right behind the driver's side trunk hinge. It is a bullet connector. If they came with one does anyone know where to mount it??

Re: scarebird disc brake conversion

Update I added a quarter-inch metal piece to the steering stops and that fixed my problem with hitting the calipers. Now my only problem seems to be that my right rear brake locks up in a panic like brake test. I also notice a lot of rumble noise coming from the trunk area. I just insulated and inst...

Re: steering column info

Thanks, You know when you get older, things that you have done before can slip past you?? I got in the house last night and walla the same thing came to me !!! An impact. I will do tomorrow. Thanks for the help. I was so concerned about not hurting anything on the wheel that I totally forgot about t...

Re: steering column info

I am redoing my column too and i have a quick question. I have all the parts and info on how to do it. But i can't get the nut off!!! Is there a trick ?? I have the 15/16 socket and I have tried penetrating lube. I just can't seem to hold it on there with enough pressure to loosen it. I never though...

Re: scarebird disc brake conversion

The wheels are the same and they are not what is hitting. Its the tip of the bottom bolt on the caliper. It hits the lower control arm. It looks like I will have to build up my steering stop about a quarter inch on each side. The existing stops look to be flattened out on the contact edge! Thanks fo...

Re: scarebird disc brake conversion

Update on scarebird conversion with new master and brake booster. The 14-inch rims work with the conversion but i am sorting out a problem with the lock to lock turning and hitting the lower a-arm. So there might be that one side is going too far or I might have to adjust the stops. The ride is exce...

Re: scarebird disc brake conversion

I have the Scarebird front disc conversion in and complete front suspension in!! Yes, I lived through the removal and install of the new coils. The 14-inch rims fit and no rubbing. I will report back when it's on the road. Still replacing all the auto shifter gremlins and redoing the seat skirts. I ...

Re: Torque specifications / Front suspension

I also could not place a 9.5-inch spacer in my upper a-arm to tighten. My measurement was close to yours and my 1.850 came out correct. I watched a guy online tighten those bushing to I bet 100 lbs of torque. Don't know where he got that spec. Lower pivot could be the bolt for the lower a-arm.

Re: scarebird disc brake conversion

I went with Scarebird and have all the parts now. The thing is I looked at all the suspension parts that looked shakey and decided to replace all the parts behind the brakes right away. including coils so I will let you know how it goes. I found the hawk brake pads he mentioned but they don't make t...

Re: 62 sport roadster rear shocks

Just an update for my too-short Monroe Matic rear shocks. I went into the Monroe catalog and found longer OE spectrum shocks that fit perfectly and are a match to the recommended front OE spectrum Monroes which I believe are better shocks. The part number is 37186. Here is hoping the fronts fit when...

I see that napa shows the flat top type of master in stock at my local store. M2056 At least that way I don't have to have it shipped in to see if its right!!

scarebird disc brake conversion

Has anyone out there installed a scarebird brake conversion? I like the idea of buying parts at my local parts store in case of fitment problems. I have to make a decision in a couple of days, Its either that or toms classic conversion. I would like a bigger booster than Toms offers but I want to go...

Re: 62 sport roadster rear shocks

My Monroe 31069's aren't long enough to get to the bottom bracket with the car on the ground! 2 inches too short even if you don't hit a bump. My air shocks that were on the car were only long enough if pumped all the way up. I replaced the rear springs from espo and it raised the rear end and right...
