Re: Restoring interior textured metal?

When I stripped my seat backs I distinctly remember that the texture was stamped into the metal. After chemically stripping and using scotchbrite the texture was still there on the bare metal. If it is gone it is because the shop sanded it off. It would honestly probably be easiest to find new seatb...

Re: Please help - Rookie Restoration

I would say the first thing you need to do with this car and any other classic car.. Get underneath the car and inspect from front to back to make sure that it is structurally sound enough to get on the road. trunk pan and floor pans having holes is normal and can be replaced. You want to look aroun...

Re: 66 390 Rebuild Kits? Exhaust Manifold

All good advice. Its a bit tough to source the parts before you know what to expect from your machinist. You may even end up having to source a new block. I would advise getting a fel pro gasket kit. Find the best quality bearings you can (once you know that size). So good hypereutectic pistons (onc...

Re: Rear subframe rail rust, mouse nests

That is way too much work to put those drains in.. I will either leave it as is or figure out something easier. Yes, I also wish we had some better quality sheet metal.. but I think Classic sheet metal does the best they can with what they have. The lower outer quarter repair panels are pretty good....

Re: Rear subframe rail rust, mouse nests

Awesome to see some progress! My lower quarter was about exactly the same. I cut off the outer skin and the inner extension.. and it turns out the replacement inner extension is a pretty poor replacement. It doesn't even have the same shape as the original. Or the drains. It's going to require some ...

Need a roof for a 65

I had a roof lined up for a 65, but i took to long to get it and now its gone.

Does anyone know of anywhere within driving distance of las vegas where i can find a parts car with a good roof?

Thank you!

Re: Rear subframe rail rust, mouse nests

I love this stuff. I can't wait to see more. I see zero reason why a T-bird is less worthy of this kind of work than any other classic car. 99.99% of classic cars would need some kind of sheetmetal replacement/ rust repair like this if you really looked close. Every classic car it seems had it's pro...

Re: Any Pics of Aluminum Radiator Installations?

That looks identical to the radiator I put in.. It just dropped right in. I've posted a few pics you can see under my posts. I'm not sure how helpful they will be though. Now I need to go back and look at it to make sure I didn't do anything dumb.

Re: Modern Engine Options 65 Tbird

My biggest issue with these swaps is that it is near impossible to keep the column shifter and swing away steering column intact.

I settled on doing the best I could with the FE and sniper injection, and also rebuilding the trans.

Re: Rear subframe rail rust, mouse nests

Your trunk looks very similar to how mine was. Except my lower pan was half gone and I had no frame rail issues. Have you looked at classic sheetmetal? They usually have good sales on these parts and they ship fairly fast. I ordered everything that they make for the trunk and it covers 95% of what y...

Standard 3/4" hog rings should do it. I went through literally hundreds of them for the front and back.

Re: In tank fuel pump solution

I wish I had tested it.. I still need to weld the trunk floor back together so I have somewhere to actually mount the fuel tank.. and have some kind of temporary exhaust so I can mount an o2 sensor.

I will try to remember to take a few pics.

Re: In tank fuel pump solution

Those would definitely work.. and take better advantage of the limited space on the flange.
