Re: Convertible Deck Lid will not drop

If you want to know how the convertible top works, check out my earlier post, "64-66 Convertible Top Full Color Wiring Diagram". A 'search" of the forum should bring it up.

Re: 1966 front seatbelt buckle

My '65 belts were hard to adjust as well, due to the stiffness of the webbing. I removed them and scrubbed them down with soap and water and hung them up to dry. Afterwards, the webbing was very pliable and easy to adjust. YMMV.

Re: Thermal cut out on my Top pump for 66

40 amps seems like a lot of current draw for the pump.

Re: EICO 888/Solid State Universal Engine Analyzer

If you don't have a tach, keep it. You'll need it for setting timing and setting the carbs. The value is probably $50, so you'll have more utility with it than you could get for it.

Re: 64 seats

You are right, they are different since the passenger seat is the extra cost recliner. I too have thought of doing what you are planning. Unfortunately, the controls would be on the wrong side. If you resolve that issue, I'd be interested in your solution.

Browne Auto Salvage, Sunset, TX

This last Saturday, my son and I drove up to Browne Auto Salvage, looking for some mid '70s parts. This place is a real kick. 2,500 cars, and nothing newer than 1980. The vehicles ranged from a couple of Model T's to a 1969 Rolls Royce. We saw plenty of square birds and flair birds, loads of Lincoln...

Re: Jumping Amp dash readings

John,

What you see is the regulator kicking in and out. The hysteresis (the difference between the regulator's turn on and turn off voltages) is narrow. Switching to a solid state regulator tames the jumping somewhat, At least you know the alternator is working.

Re: Sliding Steering Column

Get under the dash with a flashlight. There are two bars that control those panels on either side of the steering wheel column. I suspect that one has come loose. You'll notice that there are bumpers that are stops for the steering wheel column under there as well. The column should move both left a...

Skip, Remove the knobs and center console trim. Then remove the two nuts on the radio shafts and the radio bezel. Remove the left and right console side panels. You'll then see the rear radio supports. Remove these. Reach back and undo the one or two wire harnesses to the radio The radio should now ...
