Our T-birds, on the other hand, already come with a 390 and ford 9. so all that's missing is the flames.

well except for the real ones blowing back through the carb on saturdays.

How old is the battery? anything more than 5 years, and it is suspect. Under what circumstance is the battery dying? overnight, within 15 minutes of shutdown? while you are driving? etc? The troubleshooting link provided in the other replies has a pretty good overview and detailed instructions. Trou...

I bought a TBird cuz it wasn't a Mustang. I could build a hot rod sleeper out of a comfortable car.

Now finish taking apart the rest of the car and documenting it with the same level of detail...

this is a good resource for Ford transmission questions:

also, as you suggested, if it is a differential whine, you may want to start with fluid quantity/quality.

my odometer is pretty accurate, but the speedo is reading about 20mph slow...

I checked the drive gear teeth and it was right. I'm thinking the mechanism needs a lube.

so lately I just bring a long my GPS and use that as a speedo.

make sure you have a set of replacement lugs handy. They are available, but not at auto zoo type parts houses. A good old fashioned napa may have them.

They will be questionable upon removal regardless of methodology.

You can bypass the heater core by removing both heater hoses from the firewall and connecting them together with a 3"piece of metal tubing and the hose clamps that go on the firewall.( I had to do this to my everyday driver one day at work so that I could drive it home to change the heater cor...

Thanks anyway, mine is a Bendix.

I am commencing the autopsy tonight. I hope the patient lives through it.
