Re: Dash Pad Replacement, Dash Panel Removal

Just dashes was pricey, un-responsive and when I did finally get in touch with them there was a 6 month lead time. Given their lack of overall communication which to me translates into me sending them my dash and being at their mercy or worse. Unfortunately Just Dashes is the only game in town and t...

Re: Headliner '62

Here is a hack for the tack strip. I know that the purists on here will gasp but in a couple of places, where, for one reason or the other the tack strip failed me, I split a stir stick for mixing house paint, cut them to size and attached them with tiny self-tapping screws and filled in the spots w...

Re: Headliner '62

Steverino, Good to see that you are back at it, I completely forgot about this. Mine came out beautiful and it was a breeze but the 1st headliner I bought from Stock Interiors turned out to be a one size fits all affair and when I went to return it I found that they had sold out to another company s...

Re: Courtesy light short

Sorry to go long on this but I always like to pass on lessons learned. First off, thanks to MN63Tbird, and you were right, you certainly learn the car checking for continuity! I certainly appreciate the detail you provided. I replaced the door switches without even checking them, I replace with new ...

Re: Courtesy light short

First off, I just finished a 7 mo. reclaim of the interior so I feel like I have a zipper on those seats, I am 6'3'' with bi-focals,I have no room to get in there and cannot get in a good position to see the detail, I already pulled it. :-) Excellent additional advice. In working through this issue,...

Re: Courtesy light short

So, I sat in the passenger seat pulling wires and checking them against my schematic. I did not have the map light wired up so I hooked that up to complete the circuit and then blew the fuse! Ran out of time and patience (and fuses) but I am back to it this AM. I am kicking myself for not installing...

Re: Accessory circuit coming on with ign switch off

Please post pics of the aftermarket A/C and the "hack" job for future reference. Not a lot of people are familiar with what's out there for non-OEM conversions and need to know what to look out for. Ouch.... Wish granted: http://www.vintagethunderbirdclub.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&...

Re: Courtesy light short

MN 63, Looks painful but understand that it is a learning curve and I am going to be an expert and ready for the next project at the end of this. I have all of the instruments / materials on your list so off I go. It is hard to nail down cause and effect when you have replaced the dash and when you ...

Re: Courtesy light short

Reviving this topic but adding a twist. Hoping one of the more experienced on here may have some advice. I recently replaced the dash and interior on my 63. Remarkably I ended up with a small list of punch list items but one which baffles me is the courtesy lights will not shut off when closing the ...

Re: Serious Setback, cracked new exhaust manifold

When I went to replace my manifolds I broke three bolts in quick succession, game over. The experience sent me a hole other direction. But...…. I have two brand new, still in the box manifolds for a 61-63 that I am tired of tripping over. Send me an IM if you have interest, I do not need to get rich...

Re: Dash Pad Replacement, Dash Panel Removal

Significant progress made when you are working from home and have weekends to dedicate. Headliner done, Note: The liner I purchased from Original Auto interiors was a bust, a bit of a one size fits all for 1963 Fords, it required a lot of modification and cutting. I gave up and sourced one from Bird...

Re: scarebird disc brake conversion

A new master cylinder and a rebuilt stock booster have been installed on my 62 but still lots of pedal pressure required to slow down. After reading this thread, I wondered if some of you guys are going to aftermarket boosters because the stock unit is a problem. The local brake shops won’t machine...

Re: 63 Thunderbird Hardtop A/C Removal

Most everyone on this Forum, including myself will advise that you buy the Electrical and Body Assy manuals. Two years ago I heeded this advice and it saved me a lot of heartache. I replaced mine (Heater core / AC) with an aftermarket unit which is sacrilege to some but my heater core was shot and I...
