Re: Behind the tailight

I'll start with the bird is a 64. From all that I have gathered and looking at the car, the grommets defiantly protect the sockets from stuff flying up under the car. This was easy to see with having the lights installed and no rear valiance on the car. So my plan is to mold my own or find a cupped ...

Thanks for the response, I'll try using that number to replace the ones missing.

Behind the tailight

Alright need help with this piece. I have looked through every catalog that I have but can not find. Google has been no help on this piece, cause well I'm not sure what the part is called. Could someone point me in the right direction. https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/106065994_40886754...

Re: Noise at kickdown

Tried it capped at the manifold and the just running vacuum to the brake booster and no change. My vacuum advance comes off from the carb where Holley recommends to the distributor.

Re: Noise at kickdown

It's hard to say how exactly the vacuum hose setup is on there right now. You should have one vacuum hose still going into the passenger side of the firewall to supply vacuum to the parking brake, trunk switch, rear vents, and door locks if you have them. If you still have that one line going in.. ...

Re: Noise at kickdown

So had a guy from a local car club came over to look at the car. He gave me a reason for the vacuum noise and want to see if you guys can agree and then will figure how to fix. My car was originally an A/C car but when I bought it the only A/C parts left were the hoses hanging in the engine bay. Nee...

dgalietti wrote: Tue May 26, 2020 5:51 pm sorry.. about the pcv... Is it just a hose going to the intake with the PCV inline and then to the carb? If it is, check for the hose collapsing or blockage.
When I get home monday I'll double check. It's the stock PCV so has the hose from back of block to PCV then hose to back of carb.

Re: Noise at kickdown

I can't really see in the Pics, but is there still a PCV in place? I was thinking that with only a breather on it, maybe you are hearing some noise at higher pressures. Stock PCV is in place and attached to the rear of the carb. I have seen a few around that have updated carbs and intake and use a ...

Re: Noise at kickdown

Here a couple of pics that I have. Will try and grab a better one later if it helps. A local car guy suggested changing the transmission modulator valve. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2719815131392963&set=pb.100000935083687.-2207520000..&type=3 https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...

Noise at kickdown

So recently I replaced the old Holley that previous owner had with a new Brawler one. I also took off the old adapter that had the pvc port and the coolant line (neither were hooked up). Car runs good but ever since I did this When I am driving and I go to hit kickdown the car sounds like it has a b...

Re: Overheating and at a loss

Update Lower rad spring placed, changed thermostat and removed the AC heat exchange on front of radiator and still tons of pressure build up and over heating. Had car brought to a local radiator shop and was told it's in bad shape. lucky for me a local guy here had a NOS radiator that I felt was a f...

Re: Overheating and at a loss

Not sure if it was mentioned before or if you figured out your over heat problems but what about the heat riser? Valve located just aft of the passenger side exhaust manifold. My bird originally came with one and a while ago mine was stuck half closed. I replaced it with a valve delete piece. That ...

Re: Overheating and at a loss

Once upon a time, when I was dealing with overheating issues, I tested my thermostat in hot water and learned that it wasn’t open fully until 20 degrees warmer than its rating. I got a lower temperature one and was careful to get a high flow model, too. Later, I installed a high flow water pump and...

Re: Overheating and at a loss

Did you install the thermostat backwards? The spring should be inside the intake manifold. Also the lower radiator hose should have something (like a coil spring from a mattress) inside it that prevents it from collapsing. The Thermostat is installed right because I had it backwards the first time ...

Overheating and at a loss

I have read just about every post on overheating issues for my bird and still at a loss. This started last year when out of the blue the heater core decided to die, so I decided to redo the cooling system. What has been done? I have a new expansion tank, cap, thermostat, waterpump, fan clutch, hoses...
