Re: Eng oil pan gasket replacement
Bill, I'm glad I could provide some insight. I kept avoiding this particular task, but it turned out pretty straight forward once you get in there. I like to call it high-level tinkering. As for the oil pickup, I installed it with the oil pan completely out of the way. It would definitely be a mirac...

Re: Eng oil pan gasket replacement
Bill, Those Snap-ups look pretty handy, sure wish I had something like this. Any type of helping hand is a plus when you're trying to balance the oil pan and keep the gasket in place while inserting bolts! I did almost exactly what you plan: used Permatex to hold the gasket in place as I held it up ...

Re: Eng oil pan gasket replacement
Hey Bill, Scott's post is what motivated me to finally do this job. But I needed to completely remove the oil pan for a leak repair. I did this last year but I do remember that lifting the engine wasn't nearly as bad as it sounds. If you have 2 small pieces of 2x4 and a jack then you're all set. Luc...

Re: Alternatives to Chrome
The brushed steel or matte silver look on bumpers looks good on some restomods. I haven't seen it on a bullet bird. Vinyl wrap is cheap enough to play with and if you change your mind just peel it off. Here's an example. The curves on a Thunderbird bumper could pose a challenge but nothing that can'...

Re: Alternatives to Chrome
Vinyl wrap it. Chrome finish, brushed steel, dark chrome...whatever you want. There's a learning curve but won't break the bank since it's just the bumpers.
Just an idea to get your own ideas going.
Good luck and have fun with it.

Re: The Bermuda Triangle of Bullet Birds
I can definitely relate. When I took off my hood and hood hinges I had a much clearer view of the bottom pit. I did find those long lost washers, mini hose clamps, pieces of wire, bolts, screws. etc. I know some were dropped by me, the others may have collected since the sixties!

Re: Electric Fuel Pump
Hi George, I eliminated my vapor lock by converting to an electric in-line fuel pump with a return line. I also added a fuel pump relay with On/Off controller. Not too difficult and was inexpensive. I have a Summit 600 carb and the pump is closer to the tank positioned below it. These are the items ...

Re: 1962 T-bird single to dual master cylinder
I have encountered the "does not fit" message for the bullet bird on a few websites when the part did in fact fit. I'm leaning towards picking up the Napa part and checking the fit.

Re: What do you think of this 'Bird? Too much?
I appreciate the work it takes to build this; but I find it very unimaginative. Wow, another bullet bird has been converted into a bubble top space ship *YAWN*. To me, it's dated and lazy.

Re: Carb Upgrade
I know you already bought your carb by now, but for anyone else still looking to buy I recommend the Summit 600 carb. It's a good price for what you get.

Re: small surge tank hose
So timely, i just came across this same hose replacement task on my to-do list. I found one at Mac's for $5.99 (3 feet). It's in the Mustang section, Part #: 44-366342-1

Re: How to R&R Brake Light Switch 63 Bird
ricklove, not sure if it helps in your case but I found that my taillights were unreliable due to a bad ground in one of them. The previous owner had installed the wrong type of socket. There's a lot of great advice in this thread and i can definitely concur about the all-important shop manual. On a...
