Re: T85 C Transmission Tail Bushing
After additional discussion the correct bushing is Ford part B5AZ-7A034-B, not to be confused with the 7A034-A bushing. It's the same bushing referenced for the overdrive unit in the parts book. Work room is limited so having the correct puller and installer is extremely helpful. I used Manzel tool ...

T85 C Transmission Tail Bushing
What are you guys using as a best fit bushing for the T85C transmission extention housing bushing? This transmission is in my '57 E-Code TBird, 3-speed manual transmission with no overdrive. Providing a part number in your response would be great help if you know it. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: New Project...Questions about original equipment
For valuation purposes, I would think you would want to seek out the E parts and reinstall.
Granted the 2x4 carbs come with lots of baggage about reliability, but my E car performs beautifully with double carburation. I just can't imagine it any other way.

Transmission Gear Oil for '57 E Code
I have been running 90w mineral oil in my 3-speed transmission for years now and did so on the advice of that famous T-Bird mechanic. I've not been happy with the shifting. Today I drained the transmission and filled with 3 pints of Driven Coventional SAE 80w 90 Gear Oil (GL-4), and I took a drive. ...

Re: New Member with 1957 'E' Code
Not to discourage you for your desire to modify your E-code, but it is not a healthy idea, in my opinion. Each year I would guess the number of E-codes (stock) decline because of plans such as yours. To be truthful, there were not many to begin with. The reality is for those that own the remaining s...

Re: Fuel pump problems
You did not mention how long you have owned your car, or if you are prudent about maintenance, so here are a few of my suggestions. You can check out this video and learn how the valves are positioned inside the fuel pump. The Buick model featured in the film is very similar to the Ford model we use...

In my opinion, the original version is worth waiting to find. Clarity often is an issue with alternative options.

Re: Adding to the rash of fuel pump issues
If you have a fuel pump with the correct casting marks you don't want to discard it, or send it in as a core replacement. Personally, I receive a great deal of satisfication from rebuilding a fuel pump or water pump; I know that is not for everyone, but I suggest it. Quality rebuild parts are essent...

Re: Pertronix Upgrade Questions - Need Advice
Check out Casco. They sell the Pertronix for the '55. They also have a very helpful tech-line.
I run the Petronix on my '57 with the original coil and ballast. Works beautifully.

Re: Fuel Pressure - to augment or not to augment? Electronic fuel pump augmentation
I run a mechanical and electric fuel pump on my '57 E-Code, and use it in the same manner as Joe Johnston described; otherwise, I likely would have gone through 3 or 4 starter motors by now. There is more going on here and one should not lay blame on starting issues entirely at the foot of the mecha...

Re: 1956 getting hot.
I replaced the water pump in my '57 several years back and while in there I bought the Ames Spacer and installed it too. After the repairs, the temperature needle now registers about 1/4 year round (I live outside Atlanta). Prior, the needle wanted to drift between half and 3/4. Each fall I drain th...

Refer to the '57 Owner's Manual, page 9 under Generator Indicator. It sounds to me like you don't have a problem at all.

Re: Distributor Cam Retainer Clip
Secure the distributor shaft into a soft clamp vise, position the spring on top of the cam stud, using a pair of ring removal pliers, stretch the spring slightly apart at one end while using a flat-slotted screwdriver to force the opposite end of the spring around the outside circumference of the ca...
