Re: Body Remanufactured?

Thanks all. Yes, I did check these links and came up with nothing when I asked for a trunk replacement.

I've come to the conclusion that my only choice is to hunt down a used trunk.

Thanks again.

Body Remanufactured?

Is there a company that manufactures parts of the Thunderbird body? Specifically, I'm looking for a '55 trunk complete with the fuel door.

Thanks

Re: Start up

So it cranks (turns over)? Sounds like fuel. Do you have fuel in the tank? Check that glass filter to see if gas is there. Could be fuel pump not pumping.

Re: New-to-me '55

Nice car, Andrew. My wife picked up a 55 that needs a lot of work. We recently converted to 12volts. Car starts every time now. And yes we too have the surging from applying the brakes and yes, we do need to rebuild the booster. Tires are too old and will also need to replaced before she does some s...

Re: 55 Top Harness?

Thanks for your responses. I ordered a harness from CASCO. Also thanks for the tip of not storing it on the harness. The plan is to use the harness to remove the top from the bird and to lower it during usage. I'm sure that the top won't be left off for long periods of time. If this harness works, I...

55 Top Harness?

I rigged up a hoist to lift off the top on the wife's 55 bird. Now, my dilemma is to have some kind of harness that goes around the top for my hoist to lift. Just wondering if anyone has a system to lift off the top. Or any suggestions on what I can use to lift off the top. I'm a polio survivor so I...

What spark plugs are you using for your 292? Oh, and what number?

55 Oil Canister Parts?

Looking for the oil canister parts to use on the 312 Y block. I have the can and the long bolt but I am looking for: 1) the plate that bolts to the engine block. (mounts underneath the canister). 2) the nut that bolts the plate to the engine block. (this nut is threaded on the inside so that long bo...

Re: Where is the Turn Signal Flasher?

Phew! Finally found what we consider a signal flasher. Has anyone seem something like this before: https://s6.postimg.cc/hxkzx7o6p/IMG_4562.jpg This thing was dangling in front of my face and I kept asking my friend...what the heck is this? Once we traced the wires from the column and turn signal li...

Re: Where is the Turn Signal Flasher?

Again, I appreciate all of your suggestions. Waiting for a couple of friends, hopefully with good hearing, to see if we can hear the canister 'clicking' when we use turn signals until it burns out. Most of my conversion to 12 volt is done. Otherwise, we will have to try and trace the wires either fr...

Why Do I have 'Logon' each time?

I've selected the 'Remember Me' box when I sign on but, every time I want to respond to a post or create a new one I have to logon again.

Why?

Re: Where is the Turn Signal Flasher?

Jim, Really appreciate your responses. I just crawled under the dash again. It's just not there from your description and picture. We purchased this 55 in November 2017 and have been working on it ever since. Pulled the cluster and noticed that a lot of the wires have been marked so, we know someone...

Re: Where is the Turn Signal Flasher?

Wow thanks Jim! A picture is worth a thousand words!

From your picture it appears that the flasher is over the steering column and right below the gauge cluster, correct?

Thanks again.

Re: Where is the Turn Signal Flasher?

This is getting so frustrating, it's almost funny that we can't find this flasher! I'm afraid if I hook the battery up the flasher will blow. Not that it's a bad thing since I'm almost done with the 12 volt conversion. Still finding some dash bulbs that I haven't swapped to 12 volt versions. Okay, s...

Re: Where is the Turn Signal Flasher?

Thanks for responding but, I still can't find it! Is the flasher mounted on a board or is it just hanging by the two wires? Real frustrating here. Been under this dash more than I would like. Is it high on the dash by the clock or lower where the wiper/cigarette lighter is? I just don't see the flas...
