Transmission Identification

I have a transmission out of a 57+ Ford that I need help identifying. Most people just refer to them as old Ford 3 speeds. Anyway the casing number on the main body is AF-7006-D. The case side cover has AB-7222 on it and the Tail casing has AB-7651-A on it. Bottom line is I need a new 17 tooth input...

57 312 3 speed transmission needed

Looking for a three speed transmission for my 57 E code. So I need the 312 or T85C-1 transmission. I have one but it has the wrong tail shaft housing. You can send me an e-mail at rbowen8@comcast.net.

Looking for a 57 Transmission

I am restoring a 1957 Thunderbird and looking for a T85C 3 speed transmission for it. Anyone know where there is one up for sale. I found a couple overdrives, but my Vin tag has a 1, which rules that out as I am trying to get it back to correct.

57 312 Block

I am in the process of restoring an E code 57 and looking for a 312 Block and heads. Anyone know of anyone that might have one or maybe where I can find one?

E code carburetors

I am restoring an E code bird. I have the manifold and carburetors, but need the linkage and air cleaner. Anyone know where I can pick up a linkage and air cleaner? How about someone that is good at restoring that setup?

Re: Overheating 57

Thanks Lew, my next step is to try the the big mouth T-stat, Casco Water pump and Chris's device. But I agree heat is very common and a lot of post don't seem to have a one size fits all answer. Once I do that, then the only other option is to change the radiator to an aluminum one. Which many peopl...

Overheating 57

Ok so I read through a bunch of the threads on attempts to cool down our birds. One question I was not sure I found a solid answer on is the combination of Chris's spacer and the Casco pump. Is anyone aware of any issues with running that combination?

Re: 57 E code info guys

Well it appears you have a lot of input. I guess we have all found that value will depend on the desire for something specific like color or options and depth of the buyers pockets. Finding the right buyer is the challenge as one post points out. But your E and F cars are your best value cars for th...

Re: Engines for sale

Thanks for the replies. One has a good frame so I will hang onto the drive train on the frame. The other was on the upper lift and it collapsed on the other one as is bent. But it has the 312 so I will pull that engine and send the rest to the crusher. I agree the local buyer is probably the most li...

Engines for sale

Sorry to say I experienced a fire in my garage where I kept my 57 and 55 T-bird. Both were totally destroyed. As we go through the process of pulling these out of the garage and send them to be crushed, I was wondering it there is a market for the drive trains in them. I know in many of my other cla...

Re: Placing your t-bird on a car lift

Thanks everyone for your responses. I generally leave my doors closed. I am like the one post, as I have opened one while on the lift to turn the power on or shift it in neutral, but generally I keep them closed. X frame cars are one of the strongest designs for four point lifting, so I was surprise...

Placing your t-bird on a car lift

So a couple of us are having the debate... I have the typical two post lift with the four adjustable arms for positioning. I always thought you lifted these cars with the doors closed to maintain the integrity of the structure, in case there is more weight in one direction or the other. Others are t...

Re: Carburetors

Thanks guys for you comments/suggestions. I hear you on just buying a new one, but I am kind of a originality guy with this bird as it was my dad's that I inherited. I did as you suggested with my 55.

Carburetors

Need to rebuild my the carb on my 57. Any recommendations on someone that knows what they are doing on these old carbs?
