Re: Door Striker plate mounting screws are 5/16" x 18 x5/8 PZ4 Pozidrive countersunk heads;like a phillips

Thanks to all for the responses, especially the Wiki page on screw head details. Familiar with many of them, but the pozidriv was new after working on my door latches. I used the 1/2" socket drive because the #4 Phillips tip I found was a 1/2" drive socket. Heavy duty #4 Phillips tends to ...

Where is up to date How to on Posting photos attachments, the how to on forumis old photobucket junk

Checked the How to section and found only old photobucket stuff for posting pix and attachments.

Thanks,

Door Striker plate mounting screws are 5/16" x 18 x5/8 PZ4 Pozidrive countersunk heads;like a phillips

I need a pozidrive screwdriver bit 1/2" socket or a pozidrive PZ4 bit. The drive part looks like a Phillips head but has 4 major slots and 4 minor slots shifted 45 degrees. Two of these mount the door striker plate on 64,65,66 TB; it is 5/16 Diam. x 18 threads per inch x 5/8" L with a coun...

Re: Hesitation above 40 mph

Probably the fuel filter which is the bottom canister on the fuel pump. Very hard to remove, easier to take out whole fuel pump. AC compressor , oil filter get in the way in either case. The canister and internal fuel filter element / gasket are available . Good Luck! Charlie Slack 65TBird Austin/Gi...

Re: Coil Voltage?

Sorry, I meant CVR, constant voltage regulator; not IVR, Instrument voltage regulator. It puts out a pulsed square wave that averaged is ~ 5 VOLTS.
Still be careful taping into the 12 V line to the alternator / system external voltage regulator.
Thanks,

Re: Coil Voltage?

Careful guys. You are locating the the system voltage regulator for the alternator (12 volts)and then there is the IVR for instruments regulated voltage (5 volts)!! The 12 V system reg is on the drivers side on radiator support area. The IVR (5 volts) is behind instrument cluster. Careful taping into...

Re: Adjusting the fuel gauge

the low , not full reading , is probably the IVR, instrument voltage regulator, mounted on back side of instrument cluster. The original unit is an electromechanical wizbang that is basically a thermally controlled switch that chops the 12V input to an average of 5.5 to 6V. Thus providing crudely re...

Re: Coil Voltage?

The coil voltage comes from the ignition switch wire that is a resistor wire on the feed line to the coil. It's behind ignition switch running out thru body /firewall connector on passenger side. It is about 16 to 18 inches long and has bullet connectors on both ends. Replace it with regular #14 or ...

Re: Master Cylinder for split circuit DRUM brake system

The pictured master cylinder looks like a single reservoir chamber unit. Not a dual reservoir chamber unit. Get a true dual reservoir either for drum / drum or disc/drum if you upgrade front brakes to disc. Do a search here, on forum, lots of brake master cylinder etc. experiences recounted. Charlie...

Re: 1965 Gas Gauge goes all the way to full

Could be the CVR ( 5 Volt constant voltage regulator) that supplies 5 Volts to Fuel , Temp , and Oil pressure gauges. It may be stuck since it is electromechanical and putting more than 5 Volts to gauges. Are the Temp and oil pressure gauges reading in the normal range? Also what redstangbob suggest...

Re: Alternator

I would go a little larger, possibly 85 to 100 Amps. If you have AC and electric windows it makes a huge difference.
You can use a newer Ford 3G alternator with internal regulator, and eliminate the external voltage regulator. 65 A is barely enough.
