Re: Tonneau cover color
My 56 has the original white vinyl tonneau cover. I’ve never tried to install it. Now I’m curious!

Headlight Door flew off
Just a caution, went for a drive yesterday & noticed something fly by. Pulled over & noticed one of the headlight doors was missing. Found on the side of the road about 100 feet away. Have had the car for 6 years & never touched them. They are held on by a single screw. Something to chec...

Re: Play in Steering wheel whilst driving
Make sure the steering box has fluid in it. I was advised to use STP High Mileage oil treatment. Sticky, nasty stuff - but eventually the box stayed filled.

Re: My starter motor wont turn!
Yes, you can see it at the bottom of the pump, will have a tiny wire clip holding it in place. Try pumping the accelerator a few times with engine off, if u see fuel squirting into primaries u are probably ok.

Re: My starter motor wont turn!
I’d check the accelerator pump first. Is it connected to the throttle linkage? Possibly carb was rebuilt without the little bb in the accel pump, which must be installed correctly.

Re: '55 Runs rough at highway speeds
ICON 1956, thanks for the pic. I have the CASCO electric fuel pump kit, but can’t see where the pump bracket attaches to the frame. Can’t tell by the pic, do you have the pump attached to the frame in some way?
Thank you!
Thank you!

Output is mono. You can hook it up to multiple speakers, but still only one channel. These can be replaced with modern look-alike radios - but I prefer the original...

Re: Teapot flooding
Thanks Bob. I'm biting the bullet & rebuilding the carb.
Just bumping the starter gave 6psi fuel pressure reading. Agree that too high pressure from the correct fuel pump (I think) is weird.

Re: Teapot flooding
Ok, I'm getting a reading of 6psi with just a couple cranks. Seems like this is a bit high & might be contributing to the flooding problem. Anyone used an inline pressure reducer or other means to lower the fuel inlet pressure? Do I need a new fuel pump?
Thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

Teapot flooding
Been troubleshooting carb flooding in my 56. Carberator is stock Holley 4000. Can see fuel running into secondaries at idle & have checked most of the items (Power valve, bleed holes. float) typically suggested. Will test the fuel pressure today (stock mechanical pump). Looks like the pressure s...

Re: Autolite Carb replacement
The stock Holley 4000 IS reliable IF it is rebuilt & set up correctly. I rebuilt it myself (mistake), but learned a lot along the way. Key components to replace are the Power Valve and Accelerator pump (the little BB is especially temperamental). Seems like the carb manual is downloadable on-lin...

Re: Manual Steering conversion
Thanks. I barely notice the extra steering effort. When I put new tires on last year, went with Hankook P205/75 R15 with white sidewall. Seem to recall these were made for late 80’s Toyota pickup.

Re: Manual Steering conversion
Six weekends & a couple of wrong parts shipments later, it's done! Car handles great & will never leak power steering fluid again. Also satisfied the car is back to it's factory configuration. Ended up with one tie rod a little longer than the other & also will have to re-check the toe-i...
