Re: Bleed convertible motor

I will get some new and see if that works. The old pump never had this problem though. I guess the new pumps are more demanding ;)

Re: Bleed convertible motor

I am trying to find the relay that shuts off. I can hear the audible click but cannot find the relay

is it the small ones sitting at the top of this picture?
I tried touching this to feel the click and it doesnt seem like neither of these 2 are clicking. It feels like its coming from the pump itself?

Re: Bleed convertible motor

hmm, I fill it when the top is lying in the trunk and the deck is up so all the cylinders are fully extended. I fill it untill the fluid runs out.

I also tried opening the fittings on all and it flows fluid out all over except fromthe 2 behind the seats - at the bottom.. Its like they wont flow fluid even though I am opening the fitting...

Bleed convertible motor

I bought a new convertible motor from LarrysTbird and installed it into my 66 I have filled it with the correct fluid when the deck lid is open and top is lying down. I have run the top up and down 30 times now.... the procedure is this every single time: - starting from scratch. Top is up, deck is ...

Thanks alot.l I will try it all :) I bought a 100 amp one-wire alternator and puttingthe foot on the gas seems to help some but still it takes forever to raise the top. I'll check connections and pump :)

Re: Top not going up

Finally - I found the problem. It was the relay yes. I took one from the other side and the top works perfect (not the deck cant close - I need new relays :)) Thanks alot :) The top didnt go any faster though, even after refill. Its sloooooow unless i step on the gas and its not-as-slow but still ve...

Re: Top not going up

I am getting closer to the problem - the red wire on the motor doesnt get any voltage when pressing the top up on the switch. When presseing down, the yellow wire gets 12 vold perfectly and the deck lid closes. I guess I need to trace the voltage and check where it goes wrong. I noted that the red w...

Re: Top not going up

Maybe I know what I did wrong. When bleeding the top motor after refilling it, i didnt loose the filler plug. This was all tightened as the top was operated 3 times and on the 3rd time it just moves 1 inch up and then goes down again. The top always worked fine but it seems it didnt like the refill ...

Top not going up

I wanted to improve the speed of my 66 convertible top going up. I added ATF fluid to the container and operated the top a few times to bleed out. After 3rd time moving the top up and down (it wasnt any faster) the top now refuses to move at all and wont come up. I hear the click of the relay and I ...

Re: Both side blinking front

So, In the trunk there are 2 relays on each side of the pump - what am I looking for that makes all 4 blink up front? The rear works fine (although the motors are running but the sequential seems disabled)

Re: Both side blinking front

Ok, thanks. And yes, both indikators are spliced into the turn signals with aftermarket clamps. Is this a problem that I need to fix ? I bought the car last summer and likely need to start over with many things..
