Re: M code Fuel Line
The issue I'm finding is that everyone lists the 4bbl line but not the 6bbl...I'll reach out to the usual suspects and see if anyone is still doing it. I didn't see anything in the t-bird catalogs except the 4bbl one.
Thank you

M code Fuel Line
Does anyone know if anybody is producing a preformed fuel pump to fuel rail fuel line for the 3x2 motors? I have a 4bbl 63 thunderbird but I have factory 6bbl on my 59 Galaxie that came from a later Galaxie (with the galaxie stepped carb pads, galaxie air cleaner, and galaxie carbs.. 2436/2347) but ...

I think you're correct that the reduced load is making the flasher's bimetallic take longer to heat up and flash. As said, a solid state flasher is a solution, just make sure it can handle the load of incandescent bulbs and not just the dramatically lower load of LEDs . Also, be sure to ground (eart...

Re: Correct tire size and whitewall width for a 1955 Thunderbird..bias ply
I'm not sure where the diameter for 6.70 15 of 27.5" came from... maybe from more modern trailer tire sizes. Vintage style reproduction 6.70 15s are listed as 28.58". I have them on my 55 and the speedometer reads fairly accurate with original speedo gears. Previously, with f70 15s on it w...

Re: Help finding hot air choke parts
I didn't realize you're still running 6v. Electric chokes won't work. Don't go to manual unless it's a last resort... It won't really fit the feel of the car. If you do, mount the bracket under the dash using existing holes. I run a manual choke in my 51 Ford, which is fine for that car (it original...

Re: Help finding hot air choke parts
Sorry, I just noticed you're running a B intake and a 4160, not a 4000. Drawback of trying to read forums on my phone. I ran an 1848 with the hot air choke for a while until some things pointed towards needing a little bit bigger carb and I switched to electric. The modern style Holleys have endless...

Re: Help finding hot air choke parts
Check out Mike's Carburetors. He's a good guy, helpful and likely has what you need. If thr thermostatic spring inside the choke cap is broken(I've never seen one break, but they do wear out), he has a couple style caps... You'd have to measure and get the right style(loop or not on the end of the s...

Re: temp gauge
This gets brought up every so often. I thought mine was overheating when I drove it home from buying it, but it was just the gauge reading hot. At normal operating temp...180-195 checked with an IR temp gun at the sender and other places, my gauge shows over 3/4....just at the very beginning over th...

Re: Fiberglass Battery Tray
I put a new aftermarket one (prob from Larrys) in prob 4 years ago or so along with the hold down bracket and heat shield piece and it was metal...it matched my rough original. I recall it being pretty reasonably priced.

Re: 1957 bird wont start
Check your voltage while cranking. If you have a significant voltage drop, more than volt to volt and a half or so, it indicates a problem. When you let off the key, the starter stops drawing voltage and the coil gets enough voltage to start with the motor still spinning from inertia. If you have el...

Re: 1963 Tbird brake lights stay on.
You're likely correct that there's residual pressure closing the switch. Since you replaced the switch and saw the same symptoms, it's unlikely the old switch and new are bad in the same way... Although bad new parts can't totally be ruled out, it's not really likely. The style of brake booster can ...

Re: Retro radio
Antique Auto Radio make ones that are a cosmetic replica of the original radio. They aren't cheap, but I have one in my '63 and have considered one for my' 55. I'm very happy with it. I personally don't like the digital face plates on the less expensive ones... They look very out of place to me. I g...

Re: Holley carb
Holly's website has very good photos of their 4150/4160 carbs. Stock carb on these was a Ford/Autolite 4100, so anyone with the original setup prob can't help with photos. That said, the location of the return spring isn't terribly important, as long as it's pulling the throttle closed and has the r...

Re: what floor mat color for turquoise interior 1963?
Thank you for the compliment... Still lots cleaning to do and lots of chrome to polish out. I haven't had a chance to test what cleaners won't damage the lacquer on the aluminum trim. If it makes any difference, my car has the same 77 code, but the prev owner did the seat covers in the full vinyl. I...
