Re: Anybody Ever Bought a Bird Off Hemmings?

My 62 was from hemmings. Hemmings is just an agrregator so the stuff can be good or bad, they just post the ads in an easily searchable format.

Re: Keeping Thunderbird Outside

Honest to god I keep my car on the street. It's an almost daily driver, I wash it often (first dry day after every winter storm)and I have to go in and touch up paint yearly Other than that, she goes just fine. I will say if you park it on grass tarp or no, within a month you will be parking on dirt...

Re: Cooling

Is there a way to tell what the temp is on the gauge? I have a 62 and mine only reads hot and cold. Does the center of the gauge = 165F, and 3/4 = 185 for instance? I worry about overheating, but really have no idea how close I am.

Re: problem putting in gas

I pump mine at a 90 degree angle, and listen to hear the note change when the tank is almost full, but even then I overfill sometimes.

Re: Best Substitute For Autolite Carburetor

I recently lit my poorly working autolite on fire :-( but replaced it with the 1406 with electric choke, and it works fine been driving daily for about 2 weeks with it, and it has given me no issues at all

Re: Carburator - Build or Buy?

It was, but the choke was an electric aftermarket from god knows when. some sort of adap generic from the 80-90's. burning plastic + fuel rich air and 70 MPH wind = fire

ah well

drove it home today, drives much better with the new carb. I might try to get the old one restored.
