Re: running hot

Good morning: Just wanted to follow up on my overheating/ticking problem. I was able to find an old time radiator shop not too far from where I live. used to see these shops all over the place years ago, but no longer. Drove an hour to this guy. I dropped it off and he did a flow test and confirmed ...

Re: running hot

Thanx again.
Ill look around for a local radiator shop and see what they have to say.

This radiator looks perfect, but as mentioned I can't see inside it.

I'll post results.

Re: running hot

thanx jtschug. I'll spend more time over the weekend and see if I can find that mark again, and will advance it a bit. If anything, I'm a bit retarded. Afraid of pinging too much. I'll report back after that. One other non related thing.. I have a lifter that gets noisy when the engine gets hot. Doe...

Re: running hot

Good question.
I have not been able to find a mark on the balancer, so I have timed it by ear.
It doesn't ping and starts nice, so I think I'm close.

running hot

I have a 66 bird that had an engine rebuilt 2 years ago, and basically runs well. I do have an issue with running hot. I can drive the car for hours, and the temp gauge sits right in the middle. On really hot days, 90 plus, in traffic, it will creep up almost into the "H". I'm contemplatin...

Drivers side remote mirror

Greetings:
I have my door panel off and am trying to repair a broken cable on the joystick control.
Has anyone ever tried to solder or weld these cables?
There is no "END" on it...I'll have to fab a washer or something.

Just wondering if anyone has tried.

Thanx

Re: oil type

I have been thinking of trying the VR-1 at this point. I'll try the 10-30 as well..
With my luck, the noisy lifter would be one I can't get out without intake removal.
Will report back with my findings.
Thanx

Re: power window switch

BillD:
I took mine apart several times, and after hours and hours decided it wasn't worth it..Little springs and copper contacts that were all corroded.
I tried.
On top of that, someone else had tried before me and broke the tabs that hold it together.
Just ordered a new one the other day.

Re: oil type

I was told to use rotella diesel oil cause of the zinc.

That makes sense, using the factory suggested oil, but I need to find something with zinc, or use an additive like was suggested.

castrol gtx is good oil..I used it years ago, but need to find additive like Terry suggested.
