Re: 4100 Carb leaking raw gas onto manifold
Just to throw one more suggestion in before the new year. I had a similar gas leaking issue with my 4100 a few years back when I was also chasing down a vacuum leak. I found two culprits that I had assumed would be taken care of by the gaskets. They were the power valve cover and the front pump cove...

Re: Thunderbird Scoop Ad (MAC's)
I have had a few issues with Macs- Ecklers in the past couple years with their customer service and their on line ordering system. The last time was this May. I placed an order on line for a heater core. Good price compared to other similar T Bird parts suppliers. After ordering I did not get an ema...

Re: BRAKE BOOSTER FOR '61
I just went through the same decision process last week. The Midland Ross Brake 10 screw booster in my 63 Tbird stopped holding vacuum and consequently I could not get the car into gear without stalling. Lost about 5 in Hg vacuum out the booster. Did the same soul searching for do I buy one that has...

Re: 62 Tbird Horn Contact Plate and Wire
The joint is located in the engine compartment below the master cylinder. Follow the steering column out of the firewall to the engine compartment. The rag coupling is a hard rubber flange a few inches in diameter wider than the steering column. It has bolts running through it. To ground the steerin...

Re: wipers not working
I also purchased my 63 with an inoperable wiper system. I could not find any specific info so I just started to trouble shoot by taking things apart. The wiper motor or pump I believe is a one off unit design for 63. The marketing for the unit was that it could give a variable speed control to the b...

Re: Horn sounds constantly
My mistake I do see the 13A816 now. If my memory is correct it is a little plastic gasket. If your friend has the steering wheel pulled off and he hooks up the horns and the horn does not go off that gasket would be a source of the problem. A quick search of my Tbird vendors did not turn up anything...

Re: Horn sounds constantly
Bob, I would recommend your friend get a wiring diagram for the car. That helps trace the wires. You mentioned part 13A816 which is not in the diagram are you referring to 13A824 the horn button? if so those can be purchased from various TBird vendor sites. The way the horn works is that there is a ...

Cliff you can have a new data plate fabricated with correct fonts and numbers. Marti Auto Works did one for a few years ago even with the correct rivets Price is very reasonable.

Re: Tire an wheel sizes
Agreed look at the posts on the second page by Alan. Finding whitewalls that fit your rims may not be difficult. There are a number of brands available as your larger tire installers. The white wall width may not be as exact as the originals in the 60s but it will be close. If you are doing wire whe...

Re: 1963 Idles and quits
One thought is the Flame thrower coil since you said you recently replaced it. The resistance in the system should match what is recommended by the Pertronix ingnition which I believe is 1.5 ohms for most. The Flame Thrower coils you can purchase are 0.6 1.5 and 3 ohms . Original 63 Tbirds had a pin...

Re: Did new spring installation cause this problem?
As Karl is eluding to if you use a hydraulic floor jack to lift with the rear axle or the at the differential pumpkin you will lift the car and the tires. The tires will come off the ground but the body and tire are still in the same relationship as on the ground. I have found it almost impossible t...

Re: '63 76B instrument panel bulb replacement?
Karl you are right about removing the clock to gain access. From the left side you can remove the fuel/temp gauge unit with the same technique. That will expose a ring of lights on the back side it and provide access to the speedometer lights. In either case pull the battery or pull the fuses at the...

Re: New Member - '63 T-Bird
Cody Welcome also to the club. Just a quick thought that you probably have already tried on the clock and fuel gauge is both have fuses in the fuse box by the passenger foot well. I have blown a number of fuses particularly on the clock when removing it to get at the voltage regulator that runs powe...

Re: Booster Second Opinion
Aaron. Just antidotely after I changed out my booster last year my overall engine operation particularly while idling at a stop improved significantly. After changing the booster the car ran a little rougher so I reset the idles and timing and it has never run as smooth. The old booster definitely h...

Re: Looking to buy a supposed 63 Monaco, need advice
Nice Beetle! The Monaco looks like it is almost all there. FYI the fuse box is on the passengers side kick panel. The wet floor on passengers side could be due to the leaking heater. Its on the right side of the dash area at a height most cars would have a glove box. There is a tag on the carb that ...
