Re: Sanderson headers on a 55

I have already replaced the box....did that a year ago, and yes you do have to shorten the steering column in the engine bay cause the new box is longer. I spliced the shaft so I could still have the adjustable steering wheel and yes I did use a small steering u joint at the new box. I covered it al...

Re: Sanderson headers on a 55

Thanks for the input. I am going to just pull the driver side manifold and start from there. Was just starting here in case someone had done this. With all my measuring they look like they will be close to the box but not hit. I have banjo fittings that I got as the AN fittings that I installed when...

Re: engine compartment

I have a set of these but also have the later style power steering box. How much clearance do you have between the box and the bottom of the tubes on the header?.....mainly the center tubes cause my box is longer. Thanks for a reply

Sanderson headers on a 55

I am looking for info from anyone who has installed Sanderson headers. I have a set but also have changed the steering box from manual power assist to Borgeson. Just curious if anyone else has done this. It looks like a tight fit for clearing the #6 port tube.

AOD conversion

I've looked thru here and can't find any specific info on converting a 55 from Fordomatic to AOD. I am curious if the AOD will fit in the tunnel without floor mods? Thanks for any info or direction from someone that has done this.

Re: 55 rear axles

Thanks guys, Hill's had one. I still want to find a sedan 9" rear. Not only are they easier to get parts for but it will also raise the rear about an inch which will help with the wider track wanting to rub on a good dip in the road

Re: 55 rear axles

To verify I jacked up the car with the rear on stands, cranked it up, put it in gear and got out and looked at the wheel.....it wobbled pretty good...I then removed the wheel.....was gonna replace it but since it was up I cranked the engine again, put it in gear and got out to look. The drum is wobb...

55 wheel centers

I am wanting to widen the wheelbase and put more rubber on the road on my 55 driver. I can get 15X8" rims pretty cheap but need the wheel centers to weld in with the desired spacing. I don't really want to cut up the stock wheels. Does anyone know what early ford wheels I should look for that h...

C4 Trans in a 55

So, I have a rear main seal leaking and the stock Fordomatic trans. To fix this seal I am gonna pull the engine and trans out. While it's there i would like to replace the trans with a C4 but still use the 301 Y-block. I love driving this car but don't like the way the Fordomatic goes in to high gea...

55 Dash trim

I am in the process of cleaning up the dash in my 55. I found that I can purchase a blank center aluminum trim piece from Concours Parts that has no holes. This is what I am after as this car has no heater anyway so I don't need all the control knobs just sitting there. This will be another top off,...
