Re: Axle Pad Spacer / Part # 5A537-A
" Mostly, he just drops off cars at my place to fix. " paulr Well.... here's a 65 I dropped off at Paul's that seemed to have a starter problem. Just wouldn't turn over. I dropped by a couple weeks later to check on the progress since I hadn't heard from him. There must have been some misc...

Are Trico Wiper Motors the Same for 64-66?
This might be a stupid question but I'll ask anyway since I can't find the answer in a search... The catalog part number (17508) is same for all three years and also includes 63 (visually, the 63 body appears similar with different fittings). I've seen a number of the Hydro-Wipes for sale that are p...

Neutral Safety Switches
Wondering if there is really a difference between neutral safety switches between 64 to 66. Vendors sell one that blankets all three years. I've installed one of these repops on a 65 coup with the end result being barely acceptable. If I was to do it over, I would have looked a little harder for a g...

Re: Dropping fuel tank
With the threat of fellow poster paulr dropping by (we happen to live within minutes of each other) to inspect the perseverance of the fuel tank, it popped right out with a wedge between the tank and trunk. It literally dropped as he was pulling up to the house. The paper liner on the old tank is in...

Re: Dropping fuel tank
Very similar, if not exact situation. Hanging bolts very rusty but tank looks to be in decent shape. Drained the tank. Removed the filler tube, straps, sender unit and fuel line. Didn't remove the filler tube sleeve in the trunk. Took a rubber mallet/short 2x4 and gave it some whacks from both sides...

Re: Rusty Trunk / Suspension Issues
Thanks for the response Jim. Sharp eye - I removed fuel pipe cover to see what damage was underneath it. Not shown in the picture is the vent drain tubes. One is cut in half with wires running through it to the fuse box (still need to figure out what the PO was up to) and the other is cracked. I hav...

I will, thanks. I'm removing everything I can that might possibly get damaged or lost.redstangbob wrote:

Re: Rusty Trunk / Suspension Issues
Thanks Bob. At this point, I think I will reassemble the springs and trailer it off. Have you located the leak that caused it all? My trunk is not quite that bad, but the leak is somewhere under the rear vent chrome. Lots of work to get to--would love to see photos if you've opened that area up. ~St...

Rusty Trunk / Suspension Issues
My 65 needs a lot of work, a lot of pieces to be replaced but it's all there and had been taken care of, for the most part, over the years. The body is nearly rust free except for the trunk. It's-a-mess. I knew that when I bought it and knew I would have to deal with it at some point. What I didn't ...

Axle Pad Spacer / Part # 5A537-A
While pulling apart the leaf springs on my 65, I came across a couple of spacers buried in the axle pads. The top one is in great shape (almost new) while the lower one was pretty rusted. I wasn't quite sure if they were a critical component or just a handy spacer to keep line workers from over cran...

Re: Autolite Won't Idle
. Meaning the gasket had a tear or imperfection, or there was a problem in the surface of the spacer or carb causing a gap? ~Steve Steve, It was a tear in the gasket - sizable. I was not the one who installed it so I really can't speak to how it happened. Fortunately for me (and my limited skills),...

Re: Autolite Won't Idle
I had a very similar problem with my original Autolite - same symptoms. The culprit was a leak in the mounting gasket.

Re: Where to Buy Leaf Springs for my 65?
Gittspring estimate came in at $239 a spring and that did not include any hardware or bushings.
