Re: C6 into 62
Bill, Good Catch! I meant a converter with a stall allowing a 600 rpm idle . You can check you own stall at anytime. Just have it warmed up with a accurate tach and brake hold it at wide open throttle, take the quick reading. The MX was the predecessor to the FMX, then the C4. C4 was most always beh...

Re: C6 into 62
Cheers from Oklahoma !! The Trans-Go kit for the MX Is a very nice upgrade. I installed in mine when I still had the 390 in the car. You will like the firmer more precise shifts. Further fine tuning of shifts can be done by changing the line pressure via adjusting the screw at the back of the modula...

My '61 Build
http://s28.photobucket.com/user/61Okie/slideshow/T-Bird My '61 Thunderbird build. Hadn't built a strong FE in years. Really enjoyed again! This old Bird is powered by a '70 scratch block 428CJ +.030, Forged pistons, H-beam rods, Milodon oil pan and windage tray, Lunati 20501 cam (427/425) solid, Dov...

Re: C6 into 62
What would you like to know? I run one behind my 428CJ. It is a bolt-in with 2 simple extensions to the stock cross member and allow for change to center mount. Drive shaft works just fine. Speedo cable will fit. There are only two configs (except 66 T-bird valve body) Console shift or Column shift....

Door Interchange?
Quick Question - Are the L & R Door assemblies the same '61-'63?
Not door panels but the structure and design. Can you swap doors year to year?
Thanks !

Re: 61-63 body brace at front of tunnel & headers
'61 with Built 428CJ, Dual Fours, C6, Sanderson Headers, No cross brace, Lots of HP and Torque, Lots of 1/8 passes with Drag Radials. Probably just a body stiffner to keep mamas boobies from jiggling going over railroad tracks. '61 didn't have one or a place for one your call (my posts show the engi...

Re: carb jet thread size?
Grant,
I'll jump in with my 2 cents anyway. The 4300 Autolite does have the large jets. That said, that puts the 4300 carb about 1969. The 68 & 69 4100 still in use seem to always call out as a specific unique 4100. Pure assumption on my part for you ----1968.

Re: Cooling
Bill, Been off the forum for a while. You are right on with manifold vacuum to the advance and working total timing. I'll say the reproduction clutch fans from our vendors are marginal at best. The factory a/c cars have a very tight clearance and the repro units are all we can use. I *hit canned min...

Re: ignition
Fella's the Fords use a "Built-in" resistor wire to lower the primary voltage to the Positive+ side of the coil to alleviate old school point contact burn. That's why our cars don't have a ballast resistor block like GM and Mopar. Most if not all electronic ignitions make it clear you must...

Re: FF394 Sanderson Block huggers - Yes
Hi, Thought I'd give an update on the Sandersons headers for our 1961-1963's. Well its just about a year now. About 1,300 miles, a least a dozen wide open throttle 1/4 mile passes and many hard accelerations just to here that 428 Cobrajet and Dual Quads !! Happy to report Zero issues. Not one exhaus...

Re: 4.6L into 61-3 - I've Seen It Done!
The old tech FE has always has had a bad rap. But the durability and cool factor is hard to beat. Some young guys have never seen a Hot FE. All they know is 5.0 & 4.6 stuff. Weight as I see it is the single advantage engine to engine. FE- all iron 600 lbs FE- alum intake and water pump 525 lbs 4...

Re: wheels and tires
Guys,
Yes, sorry I should have included the fitment info.
Coys C5 Chrome - 17x8 4.5 backspacing/ Tires are 255/45/17. No issues at all.
If you decide on Coys, it will cost a Grand and take about 3 weeks. Worth it in my book.

Re: Cooling
Hi Bill, No one is posting a reply to help so I'll jump in. You've covered a lot of the bases for sure. My 428 +.030 with a stock style radiator (4core) trans running thru, runs @ 90* ambient (today) 180 at 3000 rpm cruise / 195 idle in traffic w/ A/C on. I use 160* stat, Factory fan shroud and 7 bl...
