Re: New Member Introduction
While not exactly T-Bird related, I thought I'd show off my recent acquisition I got from CA 2 years ago to give company to my '61 T-Bird convertible. I got this '63 Lincoln convertible for $45K, which features its original engine/transmission and interior and completely rebuilt top system by John C...

Re: ROT Sheet decoding.
I binge buy the most commonly required spares. Master/Wheel Cylinders, Filters, Fuel Pumps etc so I have enough in stock.

Re: ROT Sheet decoding.
Speaking of which both my friend and I went car shopping. I picked up this fully optioned Premier Yellow '63 Lincoln convertible from CA and my friend got himself a Champagne '63 Landau from MS.

Re: ROT Sheet decoding.
The Booster rebuild went wonderfully, the removal and installation is what took all the time, the actual disassembly, cleaning, rebuild and reassembly took less than 30 mins and it works great. I also recently had the Booster of my '62 Lincoln rebuilt too, same procedure as above except that the Lin...

ROT Sheet decoding.
Would it be possible for someone to help me decode the ROT sheets of my '61 convertible and '63 Lincoln convertible?

Re: '61 Convertible Deck Lid stops
Ok that's really odd because I just checked the video and its shown as 'public' and anyone can watch and comment.
Try this, go to Vimeo and enter 1961 Thunderbird in the search bar and 2 videos should show up being 1961 Thunderbird Top Down and Top Up showing a red '61.

Re: '61 Convertible Deck Lid stops
Ok I have just gone through all the responses and while some of it makes sense, alot of it just went over the top of my head. I made these 2 videos some time back showing the normal top operation on my car and this was how it continued to work till the last time when the deck lid was just about to c...

'61 Convertible Deck Lid stops
Was exercising the top on my '61 and it went down fine, came up fine but then the flipper lid didn't drop to close the deck lid. it made a sound like it usually does but didn't budge. Then I had someone push the deck lid forward very slightly (there is a slight bit of play there allowing this) and a...

Re: 1961 Hot Start question.
Yes it has been rebuilt, about 2 years ago and the car wasn't run much since then.

Re: 1961 Hot Start question.
Oh that happens to me too! If I don't drive the car for over a week-10 days, I have to pump the gas pedal a few times and it will briefly catch for a second then go off, then I wait a few seconds and try again then it fires and holds. Now if I go back to the car the next day and start it, half a tur...

Re: 1961 Hot Start question.
While I have no issues with the Carb, would a replacement 'modern' Carb say something like Edelbrock etc solve this issue or would it be the same?

Re: 1961 Hot Start question.
Yes the choke system has been removed. When its hot I only press and hold down the gas pedal once, I don't pump it for fear of causing flooding.

1961 Hot Start question.
Now that the brake booster problem is (hopefully) behind me, I wanted to bring up this issue I have been having with my car for as long as i can remember. To put it simply: Cold Engine: Pedal pressed 1-2 times, turn the key and the engine fires within 1 second, idles perfectly, runs, drives and curb...

Re: 1961 Brake Booster
I didn't really take any pics of the rebuild as I was engrossed in the whole operation (and biting my nails through it) but seeing that its the mid-61-63 Midland Ross 10 Screw Booster, Midwest Power Products had the exact kit I required for $110. There aren't really THAT many internal parts involved...
