Re: Wiper arm set needed

The problem with Galaxie and Mustang arms is they aren't set up to sweep from opposite sides, so when you get them one side might fir OK (usually the drivers side) but the other side the geometry will be all wrong and it will never work. You need to find a set that works with the wiper pawls at oppo...

Re: Wiper arm set needed

According to Fred at the Bird Nest, the company that made them stopped manufacturing them. Do NOT try getting a set off eBay, or Scott Drake, or many of the others that cater to Mustangs. They will not work. I sent threes sets back that were advertised as "Mustang/Galaxie/Thunderbird" that...

Re: Noise supressor on Constant Voltage Regulator

Apparently you need it even less if your AM radio doesn't work!

Noise supressor on Constant Voltage Regulator

Learned another new thing today. My ‘62 did not have this, but when replacing my original constant voltage regulator with a solid state version, I found this little device. According to Don at The Bird Nest, it’s a noise supressor for the CVR to prevent static interference with the AM radio. Mine is...

Engine Block Casting Numbers, Date Code, Heads

I’m now aware that the engine in my ‘63 is not the original engine. No big deal since it’s a driver and not a concours car. But it is a big deal as far as specifications and parts interchangeability for the engine. My block casting code is C6ME- , which should correspond to a 1966 390 passenger car ...

Re: Missing Part: Lock Latch

I bought a plastic reproduction of one that was supposed to fit a Galaxie, and it fits but the latch still won't engage. I've given up!

Re: Cruise-o-matic shift point

I had a problem with not getting a 2-3 shift. I turned the adjusting shrew inside the vacuum nipple counter-clockwise until the head was almost flush with the open edge of the nipple. Put it back together and under normal driving I get a 1-2 shift between 15 and 20, and a 2-3 shift between 35-40. Wi...

Re: Accuform Dash Covering For 63

I'm not sure it was the same brand, but I installed one in my '62 when we had it. You''ll need to even out any high spots in your cracked dash pad and do some trimming using trial-and error to get it to fit snugly. I used a spray upholstery paint prep, then painted the dash cap to match my blue inte...

Re: Has anyone used an electric brake booster?

I love the idea; i used a Hydroboost on my '77 Vega with a Turbo Buick EFI V-6 because I couldn't pull enough vacuum at idle for my regular GM booster and it worked great! I'd do it again on my '63, except that now I have the added complication of the windshield wipers running off the power brake pu...

Re: 62 tail light wiring mystery

Do yourself a favor and solder a ground wire to the outside of the new sockets and run the wire to a good ground. I've done that to every new or old sockets on the rear and front turn signals on both my projects. No ground issues with the lights. All my lights have individual ground wires from the ...

Re: Power stays on circuits with ignition switch off

What's the next challenge? Mostly cosmetic stuff- trunk mats and boards, nicer floor mats, and eventually replacing the 15" K-H clone wire wheels with something easier to care for and maintain. Lots of rust pockets behind the spokes and the spinners. New 1" wide whitewalls- I really don't...

Re: Power stays on circuits with ignition switch off

More success. As I probably mentioned, someone had previously hot-wired the power window circuit (black wire) to the fuse box but left the power window relay connected. Basically, the constant-hot power was back-feeding through the relay once it closed and it was staying energized and powering all t...

Re: Strange Electrical Issue

[/img] The last electrical challenge I have is finding the wire for the windshield washer pump and seeing if I can get that working again. Thanks for all the positive comments and encouragement! I never did find the wire for the washer pump. I ran a wire through the firewall right under the T-connec...
