Re: Tires

I Bought Coopers for the second time last year. The first ones were 10 years old and about 13k on them. For the price of the Coopers this time at $110 apiece I think cheap insurance to stay safe. I guess next time will have an issue since Coopers no longer being made our size. I did check how old th...

Re: Lost Title VIN question

New York does not issue titles for cars over 25 years old. My 65 Tbird only has a registration for transferring ownership..

Re: Emergency Brake not locking

Richard, you don't need to remove the fresh air duct just the lower plastic bit that Sierra John mentions. The mechanism is held by 3 bolts of which I think you can see 2 and feel for the other. Once removed the mechanism can be rotated to remove it. The cable can be left connected. I did mine year...

Re: Emergency Brake not locking

The link below is a video about the return spring (he recommends using two springs). The hard part was accessing the assembly. I removed the front seat and the lower half of the fresh-air duct. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOumdSSO44w How hard to remove the fresh air duct? Wonder if I can replac...

Re: Emergency Brake not locking

I had the same problem. I removed the emergency brake and found that the return spring was broken. I replaced the spring but still had the problem. Turns out, an insect of some sort had died in the hose between the neutral safety switch and the emergency brake vacuum canister. The body of the thing...

Emergency Brake not locking

Went to set Emergency Brake before using floor jack to crawl under my 65 Hardtop. When pressing down it did not lock in place. The Emergency Brake works as far as when driving it works to slow down or stop car. I do like the unique way it normally releases when putting in gear. I am aware that it wo...

Re: Removing and replacing side view mirrors

Thanks for your reply and instructions. That sounds pretty easy. I have had the drivers door panel off before so thats no big deal. I did not remember that the cables are connected to the arm rest. If I do go with the repop I hope those cables are labeled too. I am going to get a price first for re ...

Removing and replacing side view mirrors

My side view mirrors have some pitting on faces. I am considering having them rechromed or replacing . I see an allan screw on the base. The passenger side is installed from factory. Is it as simple as removing allan screw to remove and replace or have to get inside and remove door panel and maybe g...

Is it my tranny?

This happened once last year and then last night. After warming up my 65 and taking off the car feels like the tranny slipping and then the car shakes violently on the front end. Come off the gas and then take off again violently shakes again. Drove around for a few minutes in my area and then off t...

Re: engine bay questions

Hello ED, All of your hood insulation is the factory installed pieces. I highly recommend you not remove the two narrow outer pieces of hood insulation. Those were molded and have a domed profile. It is quite unusual to see those two outer pieces still in place and fully intact as yours still are. ...
