Re: Vinyl top removal… frame damage
Cliff, i just got done with the exact same fix on my 66 conv. What a chore! I heard a large BANG and discovered that a weld on the drivers side main aluminum frame broke. It had been welded before I bought the car, so the weld lasted for the 15 or so years that I've owned it. when it went it also br...

Re: 1961 Convertible Question
It sounds like your plug on the top down and top up needs to be cleaned as well as the connetors on the relays too.

conv top frame repair
To replace parts of the conv. frame on a 66 tbird, is it better to remove the frame from the car to make repairs or is it better to do the replacement with the frame on the car? Not fun!!!

steering collar removal
My steering column collar on my 62 conv. needs to be replaced. Can it be done without pulling the column? How difficult a job is it? Anywhere is there a step by step instruction? Thanks for your help, Royce

Re: 66 front wobble
The wheels were only 3 years old, I paid over $2200.00 for the set. They were made by The Wheel Smith company. I bought them through Concours Parts. Concours were the ones who contacted Wheel Smiths and worked out the repair deal for me. Concours Parts have always treated me very well and I have nev...

Re: 66 front wobble
The Tbird outfit that I bought them from contacted the manufacturer and they agreed to replace the broken spokes if I would remove the tires and tubes at my expense then ship all 3 wheels to them at my expense and then pay for shipping back to me at my expense. I don"t think I can trust the rep...

Re: 66 front wobble
I was able to pull off my driverside wheel and found only 5 of the inner spokes were still attached!!! So I put my spare on and the wobbling stopped. So I checked the right side and 3 0f the inner spokes were broken. Also the right side rear had 5 spokes broken. The left rear checked ok. This set of...

Re: 66 front wobble
Thanks for the replies, there is no red fluid under the car and the tie rod ends are fine as well as the drag link. I'll look at the rag joint as soon as the weather warms up. Could one of the front wire wheels have broken? I am going to have it towed to a front end shop probably on Monday. My 77 ye...

66 front wobble
I have a 66 conv. yesterday I was going down my street and made a right turn and heard a very loud BANG and then the whole front of the car started to wobble. The steering wheel moved back and forth about 1 or 2 inches side to side back and forth. Its as if one of the tires is square. Any suggestion...

I have tried adjusting the carb and timing but with no results. i can turn in the mixture screws all the way shut with no effect on RPMs. I have a new carb on ord...

Re: 66 surging
Thanks for the replies. Looks like I am in for some hunting but not for a while as we are in for a cold 3-4 days. I'll post what I find. I have a 66 conv surging, a 62 conv with a rear axle bearing going out and a 59 in for a brake job, ac work and carburetor rebuild. T-birds keep you young ha ha Ro...

66 surging
On the way back from an event my 66 conv started surging at higher speeds (60mph+) its a pulsing surge rather than a hard miss like you would get from the ignition. At idle it seems ok but upon acceleration it surges. Any ideas guys?
Thanks Royce

Re: '66 turn signal switch
I had the same problem with my BLack Beauty. In the turn signal switch there is a small coil spring. Take it out and gently stretch it a bit to put more pressure on the mechanism and it will work just fine. No need to replace the switch.
