Re: Cooling

Think I may try a better water pump for starters, ratchet up from there; eg. http://www.flowkoolerwaterpumps.com/sto ... _info.html

Re: Cooling

I'm struggling with effectively the same issue on my '61 build. Not really sure what the root cause is, but figure it just wants more airflow when sitting idle, at lights or in traffic; unless the water pump itself is anemic or something. I'm running a rebuilt oem replacement..., nothing fancy, but ...

I did plan to go with the FPS's. Just to confirm 1/4 inch on the passenger side?
As shown in pics...Im shimmed on L & R. The clearance problem is with right side (passenger) tower. Top picture shows the "after" appearance; with roughly 1/4" of freedom.

If you're planning to run FPA headers, many of us have resorted to shimming motor ~1/4" to clear right side tower. http://www.mediamulch.com/images/Autos/Thunderbird/Headers/CIMG6595small.jpg http://www.mediamulch.com/images/Autos/Thunderbird/Headers/IMG_6476small.jpg http://www.mediamulch.com/...

I,m a little confused, could you not rebuild your cruise-o-matic with bands made with the better material of today and add a shift kit and maybe a better tourque converter to it, and avoid all that work and still have just as good a transmission?????? Ian You may have a good point. Care to share so...

Re: C6 conversion

When you made the cross member for the C6, did you need both cross members from 1961 and 1966 to make the adjusted cross member for the C6? I know the '66 cross member is a bit shorter in width than the '61. I guess I was wondering if you just cut off the ears and added a bit of metal to accomodate...

No, the speedo cable doesnt interfere at all, even though it is close by. The arm radius and gear indicator indexing of cruise-o-matic are presumed different between '61 and C6 donor '66. In other words, the dial indicator on a '66 column is indexed appropriately for the C6 gear select arm; heck, th...

Okay. Got the C6 in. Question: Does the FPA get in the way of your linkages? It seems to mess with my settings on the park, reverse, neutral, drive. I can get into gears... but they're not where they're supposed to be. The "drive" is on Neutral. Neutral is between R and N, and reverse is ...

Lighten and lower cg where it counts is a no brainier. Ebrock is known for spotty qc/qa...my engine builder insisted his guy prep valves with my comp cams cam/spring kit, sent first set of bare heads back to edelbrock with bad valve seat. Re:timewarped1972 Team lazy luv of topic ...as far as we know Stan is still the man, no other source of bulletbird headers. One glance shows they dont dump at oem location, but they tuck smartly. Keep in mind the frustration of mounting them; very tight squeeze, shimming the motor typical. 2.5"...

From the "I've got nothing to lose..." category as well, a few tablespoons of dot3 brake fluid will often rejuvenate old, brittle seals. May get you rolling again, and allow you to plan repair or replace strategy. DosCentavos amigo VTH
